what do you think? for me texas chainsaw massacre 2 is hard to beat for worst movies. haven't seen it in awhile and need to rewatch but nightmare on elm street 2 was pretty dumb.
series where you don't like any of the movies don't count |

The one that's usually mentioned is Exorcist II: The Heretic. Not just a bad second film but a legendarily awful one in its own right. Although I do have a soft spot for it in a so-bad-it's-good way.
TCM2 is a disappointment compared with the first one but it had its own thing going on and while I didn't like it at all when I first saw it, I quite like it now. They're just so totally different from one another they're almost incomparable. |

It's a regular on 'worst films of all time' lists but I do really enjoy watching it, if only for its sheer weirdness.

For what it's worth, the soundtrack to The Exorcist II is pretty decent

It's kinda hard to think of really crappy second films in a horror series..
Evil Dead 2 was pretty corny... Of course if we start talking 3rd & 4th & nth movies, I can start reeling them off. Most horror franchises start to lose it after the second or third one... |

Can I throw in a vote for Lamberto Bava's "Demons 2"? Absolutely pointless sequel to the daft-yet-entertaining "Demons", with not one single moment of anything even halfway bearable I can think of. Don't bother fast-forwarding through this for the "good" bits - there aren't any.
And if I may go into truly barrel-scraping territory, can I also cite Joe D'Amato's "Absurd", the (unofficial) sequel to his "Anthropophagous"? If you thought the original was the apotheosis of utter boredom (mind you, at least the "shock" ending on this one will awake you from your coma), wait till you see "Absurd"!

The Exorcist II is a surrealist classic. I prefer it to the first.
Nightmare on Elm Street 2 is one of the worst movies I've ever seen. |

Yeah, but I think slapstick was entirely the way that was trying to go.. I vote for Halloween II which really just sucked, especially considering it was initially meant to be a concluding movie and not just part of a series.. Runner up should be A Nightmare on Elm Street II.. The first one is film masterpiece, and the third and fourth are that hilarious Freddy which worked. However the second one wasn't sure which way they wanted to go, and so it just didn't seem to work in comparison to the first. Interestingly enough, I'd like to reverse this, horror series where the second was better than the first. I vote Evil Dead II which is so much better than Evil Dead. For runner up Hellraiser II because while original was very true to the book and was quite decent, Hellraiser II was a just a better movie.

Part of me wants to say the Prophecy II, but I like that one, even though its clearly inferior to the original. Also, I really can't honestly hate on any movie Chris Walken is in, no matter how terrible, he is like the opposite of Charles Bronson, he can make the most shite movie so much better meanwhile Bronson wasn't bad but the movies he was in were all so damned terrible.

That is the beauty of horror, one man's trash is quite literally another man's treasure.

You shouldn't forget adding this to the Shakespearean pantheon

Halloween II isn't really all that different from the first. I prefer it actually, the hospital setting really makes it eerie.
I nominate every sequel Full Moon has ever released of their terrible franchises. |

Also Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 is pretty serviceable as a sequel. The third one was worse.
Why did someone name Evil Dead II? That's probably the best one. |

Maybe in my mind I'm mixing them up, but I thought the first one was the crappy one with soft spoken Ash and a meandering plot and the second one was really just a remake of the first one but with slightly better production and an edgier Ash? Its been years since I've seen any of them so I can obviously be mistaken..

I like both Evil Deads for different reasons. They're classics in their own right, the way Nightmare on Elm Street and Freddy's Revenge are. Both massively influential but in almost opposing directions.
