A long time ago I posted lots of BRILLIANT and no doubt profitable ideas for Sonic Youth and their crack team of workhorses that market and promote this juggernaut of a band.
I was just wondering how those ideas are progressing? The saturday morning cartoon was a favourite of mine. I got laughed at by some, but if you think about it, a popular band lending their voices for an action/ adventure cartoon. Plus it could have that wicked Japanese style anime for all the kids who like to wear shirts with Kanji writing on it. The second was a similar concept, the Sonic Youth video game. Imagine the possibilities of attracting an even bigger audience. And not only that, the band can live on in peoples minds longer than most noise bands. (just make sure the music doesn't get all cheesy so you guys stop being cool). A movie could work too. I want to see a Sonic Youth covers album, ASAP. The spin they could put on such classic has unlimited possibilities. I know SY dick about and are allergic to releasing studio albums, but a covers album is a good reason to delay working on original material. Also, I think I suggested a Sonic Youth aerobics video. Or Pilates or Yoga or Tae Bo or something. To be honest, that idea wasn't the greatest. When my other ideas come back to me, I will post them up. I know there was some real good'uns I haven't yet mentioned. I do recommend that they start collaborating with other artists more. I know they were on handsome boy Keiji Haino album, but I'm thinking more mainstream. Pussycat Dolls sorta thing you know. I don't want anything for these ideas, but some credit.

How about a Sonic Youth brand of kitchen appliances? Imagine a blender shaped like Thurston Moore, or a spatula with a picture of Kim's face! Don't forget Lee's assortment of frying pans (Smoke and flames! All right!) or Steve's signature cutlery. If a big department store like Macy's would promote this, it would sell like crazy!
