It was strange. I was outside walking my dog and it was a nice day and I listened to it 3 times in a row. I think it's a really good album and White Rabbit is the shit |

The original pressing of that LP in mintish condition is an audiophile tour-de-force. Really nicely recorded. |

If you like The Airplane, I highly recommend checling out The United States Of America's self-titled LP and the subsequent "Garden Of Earthly Delights" by Joe Byrd and the Field Hippies, released during that same era. They're like the Airplane raised by the prepared-tape and labcoat Art Music crowd. Released on Columbia Masterworks, even.

That United States of America CD reissue is one of my favourite reissues of the last few years.

yeah, the USA are mindblowingly excellent. . .
garden of earthly delights is one of the best songs of the 60s. arzachel also have a song called that. but its not the same one

I've been digging those live Family Dog releases over the past few years, but the studio version of Crown of Creation is really one amazing distillation of all things psyche and pop.

Thanks for recommending these. I listened to The United States of America LP last night and it's great. I knew it was gonna be good when it opened with a circus collage and after Cloud Song I was hooked. I've yet to get the joe byrd one but I'll keep my eyes open. Can you recommend anymore, I'd never even heard of The United States of America before so hopefully you know of some other gems. |
