Maybe you guys will think me lamer than usual, but there's this retro game forum I visit sometimes called Racketboy. They do a monthly thing called Together Retro, where everyone plays the same retro game and like talks about it and posts their high scores and shit. I've been part of that for a few months now. It can be fun. Right now we're doing Galaga which I'm fucking loving. If anyone's interested in joining: http://www.racketboy.com/retro/toget...ub-galaga.html

I would, but I don't have a collection of old games nor funds to do so right now.

word. I hear you. Luckily they post the calendar months in advance. So for me, half the fun is hunting down the game ahead of time. Like Galaga, I found a cheap copy of Namco Museum Vol. 1 for PS1. However, there do end up being some months where I don't have a console that has the game they're playing, and I won't end up participating. But for the most part, it's a blast. Gives you an excuse to play something you normally wouldn't I guess.

Oh that's cool that someone else goes there. It's a good site, but the forum needs a little something. Poster-wise I mean. Ther'es a lot of instances where you ask a technical question, and you wait like 3 days for a response, and then the response is just like "why would you wanna do that? Sony sux. Get a 360" or something like that. haha. But the Together Retro game club is a pretty great idea. So it would be great for more people to get involved.

seriously - nostalgia / money problems aside, there is simply no good reason to play old crappy games!
time marches on. |

what? Yr nuts! I'll take "old games" anyday over these new ones that are like watching a freaking movie. Sure they look realistic, but I dnt need to be fooled into believing I'm in a game. I just want to have some fun.

although I personally have no desire to replay 8-bit monstrosities that I've beaten to the ground, I'm ok with it if you do.

and where exactly did you get "old crappy" games from anyway? Are you saying that every video game made before the current gen systems is crap? If not, then what are you saying? If up above I talked about how much fun I was having playing Galaga, then what makes that crappy?
