Stumbled upon this...
We are pleased to announce our collaboration with Kim Gordon on a portfolio of prints. Since November 2006, No.6 store has been publishing a series of small books and art projects featuring the work of artists and designers we admire. Previous projects have seen successful collaborations with Devendra Banhart and Jim Drain. For the No.6 project Kim has taken a sentence from a well known song, “she is like a cat in the dark, and then she is the darkness” and from this produced a series of fourteen single word paintings on canvas paper. These paintings have been transformed into mimeograph prints and then gathered together and placed as sets in simple black portfolios. Each word from the lyric is painted on a separate canvas paper out of context from the original song existing in a new context for the viewer. Whether someone recognizes the lyric isn’t as consequential as the meaning they bring to it themselves. The fact that each word is painted on a separate sheet and exists as a separate painting further abstracts the words. Sold separately as paintings they would represent a souvenir from an experience. Together here they make a small collection of prints. Kim Gordon is a musician, artist and designer based in Massachusetts. Limited-edition of 400 printed by hand on a Risograph V8000 stencil printer using Sunworks construction paper and soy ink. Design and printed by The Uses of Literacy. Portfolios are available now online or stop by our store on 6 Centre Market Place in Little Italy For more information, email us here Price: $40 To see our limited-edition silk tees with artwork from the Kim Gordon portfolio, click here http://www.no6store.com/blog/2010/09...don-portfolio/ i never got a response to my email. luckily my brother lives in NYC. |
