The Buttholes are reissuing Locust Abortion Technician as a four song 10" EP. I think this is in advance of new music next year and probably some more reissues. I think there is another biography coming out soon too. Who would have thought that the Surfers would have gotten two books written about them.
I'll be honest that a 10" EP is a little bit of a let down. I'm pretty sure most of their albums are still in print, and I've gotten lucky enough to find some original pressings around where I live.

Interviewer: Are the Buttholes closer to God or Satan?

Gibby Haynes: God, definitely. Why take a chance?

Real talk: when was the last time they released seriously good new music? I think I must have been in grade school. Granted I didn’t listen to their most recent (now freaking nearly 20 years old) “Weird Revolution,” but im gonna go ahead and wager that it wasn’t that weird and didn’t spark anything close to a revolution.

I did enjoy moments on Electriclarryland, but I was young and dumb, and hadn’t learned of the true nasty majesty of their glory years.

New Butthole Surfers in the 2010s. Hmm. Not sure how exciting that is.

Totally down for reissues though.
