Just watched a doc on the BBC which had a load of experts debating this. They finally settled on Winston Churchill, but being a British programme it's hard to judge how biased their final decision was.

Not what I would call "the greatest," but I would have to say the most significant political figure of the 20th century was Hitler.
Churchill is not at all a bad choice. I would love that kind of wit and charisma, but I could do without the jowls. |

i'd say gandhi, who gave the empire the finger & showed the world the way.
then there's lenin. the XX century was define by communism and fascism, and communism lasted longer. also, stalin killed way more people than hitler. while lenin did not rule for very long, his revolution set huge events in motion. |
