Anybody know who the "Hidden Track" on the Kill Rock Stars cd comp. is? It sounds a hell of a lot like Feotus to me, but I can't find it in a google.

The first one that was called Kill Rock Stars. It features a bonus track, #19, that they steadfastly won't say who it is. If you go to the label's FAQ, they even ask the question and don't answer it. The guy singing sounds a lot like Jim Thirwell/Feotus/Clint Ruin, but it could be somebody else. Still that would be interesting, as it might explain why Kathleen Hanna's solo album on KRS after Bikini Kill broke up was called Julie Ruin. |

I guess I must have known you were being sarcastic, because I didn't give a lengthy sincere answer about Slim moving to NYC to work for the Man and letting his ex take over the label to do even less than he was. KRS sadly died when Unwound broke up and Slim was too jaded to notice other young talented people in his home town and give them the same kind of encouragement he'd given the first wave. I think incredibly highly of Justin and co., as both friends and incredible musicians, but I also think there are other artists who could have attained their own heights with the (highly deserved) breaks and encouragement Unwound got in the early days. Brandt, Justin, and Vern are all living in Oly again now, so it'll be interesting to see if they eventually drift back together. |
