Lee is working on his singer songwriter album and Thurston is planing the follow up for Trees Outside The Academy. If these two project will be recorded in the coming months I don't see how SY can record an album in 2008. What would you prefer? 2 new solo albums or one new SY album?

I'd prefer a Lee solo singer|songwritter album. I bet it would be greater than Thururston's solo efforts, but i don't know about the collective one... if it will be a follow up to Rather Ripped i'd prefer Lee's solo, even Thurston's.

New Sonic Youth album... I'd like to see what they're going to do after Rather Ripped. I don't think they can be even more pop than they were...

New Sonic Youth album. I'd like to experience being a fan of SY when a new album of theirs is released.

If all I got was a new Lee album, I'd be happy.

Can we get a new Sonic Youth album produced by Lee? That'd be really cool, even though I know I'm just dreaming...

Well when I spoke with Lee, he said that SY were definitely doing a new album. That said, with how prolific the band is, I really don't see how all 3 can't happen.

Not going into the whole tiring RR debate again, but in my personal opinion that nobody else necessarily has to agree with:
Rather Ripped sucked. Trees Outside The Academy sucked almost as bad. I'm really hoping for the next SY album to be of my liking again, but for now I have all my hopes on Lee. |

trees is like rather ripped as played in the soundtrack of young guns II. i'm not saying that's bad, just not something to write home about.
i'd like them to make quality albums, if it's solo shit, take your fucking time, if it's a sy album, take your fucking time. |

I voted for a sy album but if it us going to ne anything similar to Rather Ripped I prefer the solo albums. I even prefer a singer songwriter album from Steve.
I wish they could surprise us in a good way. They should stop thinking about how they would preform the songs live and then it will be better. I wish they invited people like Otomo Yoshihede and Mats Gustafsson that will bring to the music some sense of adventure that was missing on RR. Hey, maybe we should steal their guitars and they will bring us some more exciting stuff like NYCGF? |

i'd much prefer a proper SY album to solo efforts, though i really enjoy "trees
outside the academy". i'd also prefer that album to be a bit more wreckless, with more shag & less polish.. whatever,though- they're going to do what they want, i'm just psyched to hear it.
