Does anybody have any recommendations for some good Japanese thrash......the heavier and weirder the better.
Thanks!

Can you name a few western bands in the genre that you're looking for, just for guidance sake? I'm not entirely sure what counts as thrash any more.

Give High Rise a try. Not exactly what you're looking for, but monumentally excellent anyway.

You might find some japanese thrash here, but it's mostly punk.

High Rise are a good call. There's a band called Do Thank Anal that i've known for some time but i never seem to be able to find much information about them even on the internet.

I was going to recommend Sabbat as well.
Pretty weird and prolific band, but be prepared for screechy vocals. High Rise are one of the best bands ever. |

it seems no one in japan or the west calls it "thrash" because it's actually an amalgam of sounds that pretty much go from hardcore to grindcore to crust to crossover; most call it japanese hardcore, but it's very thrash and more extreme than most thrash anywhere else:
s.o.b. deathless mass deathside lipcream rose rose gauze fuck on the beach i recently got a bunch of these on tape from a trade, i also got a tape with 4 bands, i don't know if all of them are japanese but: outo suffle chicken bowels googol plex |

hey couldn't open any of the .rar files on the japanese blog, it has like a password or something but the site says file not found anymore
anyways, seems interesting all those bands hey Krastian try Guitar Wolf, the holy shit around that sound, its not specifically trash, or grindcore, but the sound will resume anything yr looking for, for real Zeni Geva also, or Melt Banana |

I used to collect this stuff pretty heavily. I was practically subscribed to certain distros to sell me one of everything...for years. And I lived off selling this collection for a whole year after the dot-com bust.
I second the recommendation of Lip Cream, Deathside, Rose Rose, SxOxB, and Outo. I'd like to add... S.D.S. Voidd Paintbox Unwise Slight Slappers Exclaim Toast Ego Fix Vivisection Shikabane DxRxY Flash Gordon While it wasn't until the mid-80's that most North American bands on the punk side of the punk/metal divide would incorporate metal elements (e.g. D.R.I., Desecration, the Accüsed, etc.), in Japan, there was no such taboo, and as early as G.I.S.M. in 1981, there was thrashy metallic HC punk that was very much "punk" in ethos.
