Go see Laurie Anderson live. Go on, do it!- now!!
I saw her on Wednesday night, it was a really interesting and facinating show, she seems to have gotten a little more overtly political in her commentary, which is only a good thing if you ask me. Atari, knower of things Laurie Anderson related, is Homeland gearing up towards an album release? I really hope the stuff she played will make it to record, including a kind of dance track "Only An Expert Can Deal With A Problem". Laurie Anderson is a facinating live performance, though considering my last gig was Merzbow where the crowd looked like labotamy patients, you couldn't move at the Barbican for pretentious looking arty types - I saw berrets - I saw BERRETS!! And no, she didn't play O Superman. And Rob I'll never grow tired of your elaborate diatrides on why she sucks... |

Yes, "Only An Expert" is especially more directly political than usual.

Homeland may appear this summer, or it may be next year; I'm unsure. Also, she's been streamlining the amount of equipment she has to carry around for many years now. There's a bit she does on The End of The Moon performances about it. I just thought I'd write that in case anyone goes to a show http://www.laurieanderson.com/appearances/ and expects a major production. She just did a West Coast jaunt before she headed back to Europe. |
