this is the opposite to the burnout thread, what music has stood the test of time for you?
I DON'T MEAN WHAT OLD MUSIC DO YOU LIKE I DO MEAN THIS: What music have you been listening to for over 10 years but never really lost interest in? Sorry if this question alienates younger board members. But just think, in a few years time, when you have come of age, you can reserect this thread and join the ranks of your elders and betters. Me: Sonic Youth Wu Tang Mudhoney Delgados Belle & Sebastian Michael Jackson Public Enemy De La Soul Gang Starr Nas Nirvana The Jesus Lizard Black Flag |

Urusei Yatsura, but I'm not properly qualified for this thread. I've only been properly into the whole music thing for 11 or so years. The Fall and Sonic Youth I bought albums by over 10 years ago. I still like those albums. Although I'm not the rabid fan of SY I once was.

Here we go. All of this is stuff I've been listening to regularly for at least 20 years (I'm 35, by the way):
The Fall Sonic Youth The Jesus and Mary Chain Propaganda The Art of Noise (ZTT period!) Anne Pigalle Gaye Bykers on Acid The BAmbi Slam The Smiths Fields of the Nephilim The Baby Men Bogshed Public Enemy Eric B and Rakim Lots of jazz music... There's lots of other music I still like, but as I say, the above stuff is still listened to on a very regular basis.

I've loved R.E.M. since I was little little.
Haha that's all I can think of, but I'm young...

Ahhhhhh! I'm 26 and the only music I've listened to for more than 10 years is classical music, which I've been listening to for about 15 years.

So far DEVO, Queen, The Clash and Bowie have stood the test of 10+ years for me. I'm only 20 so I can't say much for anything else.
For me though, I go through phases of what bands I listen to the most. I don't ever competely burn out on a band unless they suck. |

Bands like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Sonic Youth, Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins, Alec Empire, Aphex Twin, Dinosaur Jr, Jimi Hendrix, Kraftwerk, Led Zeppelin, Massive Attack, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nine Inch Nails, Big Black, Black Flag, Meshuggah, Rollins Band, Slayer, Tool, Velvet Underground, Metallica, etc. are still on my playlist. Too many to remember all. I've only quite recently(abt 2 years ago) gotten into the free-form jazz and noise bands. Even though I'm 26, I've only recently really gotten serious with the music. There was a period of time(about 10-12 years) that I can't really account for. I think I was stranded on a mysterious island and had to push a button for every 108 minutes.

Faith No More, pretty much the only band I still listen when I got into hair-metal bands like Guns and Roses and Motley Crue.
Nirvana definetly Sonic Youth, got into them around Experimental JetSet, guess that's why I like it and defend it so much on this board. I also still on ocassion listen to the first two Weezer albums. Oh and I'm glad I never got rid of all my punk rock albums. Don't listen to it SO much I'm talking about bands like Screeching Weasel The Queers Nofx a few others as well |

Shock the middle class, take it up your punk rock ass.
You rub your little thing, when you see phony dykes in Penthouse magazine. So what's the difference Mr. Cream Rinse, you just need a man. A beefy leather fag, to take you out in drag oh yeah.

Probably no bands. 10 years ago I was listening to Barney or something. I still listen to SY and I started listening to them when I was like 10. Other than that probably just Fugazi and Guerilla Biscuits.
