also in cae you arent sure about the bands...
DNA TEST FEST is April 24-25th at The Velvet Lounge in Washington DC. It is 18+, not 21+ like some of the rumors have said. Tickets are 10 Dollars for 1 Day, 15$ for both (15 bands, 15 dollars, you can't beat that, most of you all are privileged college kids, you can put off your weekly shopping at the ironic thrift store and buying stupid cds at insound.com for one week) THERE IS NO GUEST LIST DONT ASK, I CANT GET YOU IN FOR FREE, I DONT CARE IF YOU ARE MY BFF OR IF YOU KNOW GREG GINN OR VARG YOU WILL NOT GET IN FOR FREE! Both days START AT 7:30 SHARP...come early. No one cares if you're "that guy" cause you probably already are. Velvet Lounge info: 915 U Street NW, Washington, DC 202.462.3213 Metro: Take the Green Line to the U Street stop. Choose the Vermont Ave. side and not the 13th street side. Velvet Lounge is on U Street between Vermont and 9th St. We are doing sellers tables sell anything you want, your old hatebreed CDS, your old youth of today 7" 's, blood brothers side design tshirts (yeah we know you owned one), fake wolf eyes tapes, the metal VOID bootleg that never came out, boots and braces etc etc. whatever you want just get in touch let me know, you keep the profit just let me know your coming. FAN DEATH RECORDS will have a sellers table there as well. Get some rad records (FNU Ronnies, Clockcleaner, Fathers day etc) that will fit nicely between your glasvegas crap record, mastadon "hey im cool i like crazy metal" LP, and the new animal collective techo rap record you just got off ebay. DAY 1 APRIL 24TH True Womanhood (No-gaze DNA alumni now a 3-peice doing all flipper covers http://www.myspace.com/truewomanhood) Screen Vinyl Image (DC finest goth meets later Jesus and Mary Chain? New LP is awesome, members of SKYWAVE http://www.myspace.com/screenvinylimage) Rosemary Krust (Easily put out one of the best 7"'s last year. Bedroom noise that is sick and pretty http://www.myspace.com/rosemarykrust) Lampshades (Last year I described them as superdrag meets the shivvers, I stand by that still. Power pop that doesn't sound like some one getting kicked in the crotch http://www.myspace.com/thelampshades) Pygmy Shrews (Newish band w/ Jeremy of Drunkdriver. Total shit heavy-ness weird sing-y vocals, dudes will get into this. http://www.myspace.com/pygmyshrews) Pfisters ( Members of The New Flesh and Trash Camp. Take all your bloodstains LPs and shove em you losers http://www.myspace.com/pfisters) Armida and her Imaginary Band (Karen Dalton doing ragtime and Jandek if he knew how to arrange a song, new EP is killer http://www.myspace.com/armidaandherimaginaryband) DAY 2 APRIL 25TH Pink Reason ( Dude has made masterpiece 7" 's and a LP that is amazing to say the least. Druged out slow punk that makes most of whats on your ipod look stupid http://www.myspace.com/secondculture) Kurt Vile (There is a reason this guy has been talked about in this area like hes already a legend, forget the hype, his 2 new releases: Hunchback EP, and God is Saying this to You...have again floored people to all with open ears. Jack Rose finger picking, Neil Young song writing, psych tendencies http://www.myspace.com/kurtvileofphilly) Drunkdriver (There really hasn't been a better band name that goes well with the music. This WILL hurt people, this is there first DC performance, and not to be the last for sure, but who knows. Swans meets harry pussy meets mental illness? http://www.myspace.com/drunkdriverUSA) The New Flesh (Back from the dead, they will never die, this band still doesn't care http://www.myspace.com/thenewflesh) Twin Stumps ( slow sludgey ugly dumb....they dressed like interpol when I saw them. They barely made it through the set. http://www.myspace.com/twinstumps) Unholy Two ( more dudes, more feedback, dont expected to get laid http://www.myspace.com/theunholytwosucks) Eightyfive (Harsh Noise that you're friend next door using garage band is terrible at making. John Wiese lovers, get stoked geeks... http://www.myspace.com/eighty85five) IF YOU NEED A PLACE TO STAY GET IN TOUCH IF YOU MAKE FLYERS GET IN TOUCH (youll be the only ones other than the bands to get in for free and maybe some money) THIS WILL BE BROADCASTED LIVE ON WMUCRADIO.COM BOTH DAYS More info coming soon, keep it in your pants, have fun Http://www.myspace.com/dnainthedna http://www.fandeathrecords.com |

Rosemary Krust is actually really good, damn, I'm almost looking for bands to be lame these days to help my wallet. They actually remind me a bit of something like a perfec hybri of abrasve no wave and pretty twee music. Tall Dwarfs.

editors pick in the washington post: http://www.washingtonpost.com/gog/mu...t,1152781.html Interview with chris berry and I in the washington post: http://voices.washingtonpost.com/goi...round_dna.html Another Interview for the blog a young persons guide to corruption (originally intended for diamond back newspaper, but cut becuse they thought no one would give a shit: http://corruptionradio.blogspot.com/...-dna-test.html Editors Pick and blurb in baltimore citypaper: "The two-day DNA Test Fest II kicks off at Washington's Velvet Lounge with way more bands than I'm going to list here, but highlights include the brooding gazery of Pink Reason, the brash nihilistic punk of NY's Drunkdriver, Baltimore's New Flesh, and slowcore opiate Rosemary Krust (full lineup at myspace.com/dnainthedna). " Blurb in washington express: http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/n...k/PR_metro.jpg Blurb in DCist.com: "Friday marks the start of the DNA Test Fest, a noise festival hosted by the College Park radio station WMUC, whose home base will be the Velvet Lounge. You can get a one day pass for $10, or both days for $15. Acts include True Womanhood, Screen Vinyl Image, Pygmy Shrews, Unholy Two and many more. Doors are at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday" |

I'd love to see The Unholy Two live. Everything I've read about their gigs suggests they put on a party. I'd love to see Drunkdriver live more, though, they must be phenomenal. |
