No longer sporting the giant beard but still the same great guy and YES he has collaborated on boris and Sunn O recordings as one boardmember had hoped.Seems those rumors about a soundgarden boxset of unreleased material are true. The way he describes some of the unheard songs makes it sound like they could have been contenders on their best albums.

I always thought what Thayil brought to soundgarden was the best part of soundgarden
kinda like Jim Martin's riffs in Faith No More.

Good interview. I agree with him that RS' list of 100 "Greatest" Guitarists was biased toward more recent singer-songwriter types...I mean, Christ, they actually put Jack White ahead of Eddie Van Halen!!
