what a stupid thing zidane did! no one is going to remember him for playing football, they are going to remember him for headbutting someone.

it should be noted that according to other players who were within earshot, that Zidane was called a racial slur, and frankly Materazzi deserved it, the French team has been victim of much racial language lately and it's hard to contain one's emotions for 110 minutes when your offense can't score and then you get verbally spat upon
also, I don't think Zidane should be blamed for the loss, the Italian defense was just too strong, and if Trezeguet didn't hit the cross bar during the penalty kicks, it would have been different cause neither goalie was stopping anything at that point Zidane should start a campaign with FIFA to headbutt racism out of sports |

Zidane should of stayed cool. No reason to flip like that.
Best player of that game, by the way.

i think it must be really hard for zidane to be always the guy
to kill, always 2 or 3 (too raw) players on his back ( zz shows sometimes all his skills just not to be hurt)... racial insults, maybe, spanish trainer had some real bad words. italian are not famous some their fairplay so ... i don't know. look at the mess in italia around this sport lately. congrats italia... penalties are tricky sometimes. not the brightest victory anyway. ~from france ~

racism is a social plague, and it has to be removed from people's heads.surgically, when needed.ha ha.
that said, don't get me wrong, but insults are "part of the game" in many sports, the fact is that rather than "verbal violence" the one punished by referees are actual violent acts like the one zizou did coz it's the most visible and verifiable,(i think i made up this word...). nerves and calm are needed not only to shoot a penalty, but also during all the game to avoid reaction like theese.i'm sure he was not the only one adressed with curse words during the game (on both sides, maybe),but he's the only one who reacted in a violent way. unfortunately he's not new to things like that(check his career),he is still one of the most talented players ever, but this was his main (only?) flaw. and i'm not saying this coz i'm italian, when de rossi "elbowed" an u.s. player i said he'd better come back in italy and never play again in the national team.peace and love to all.
