i don't care about how you or some researchers think about what jewelry means.
i wear my grandmother's jewels because i still think about her and admire how proud she was about herself, her style and way of life. i buy my own jewelry because i like the story behind it (my favourite piece is a scrimshaw necklace carved by a fisherman a long time ago) or because i like how it looks on me. i like how the enamel bird around my neck goes with my eyes and makes my eyes stand out. i like the sound my bracelets make when i move my arm. i like playing with a ring when i'm listening in class. jewelry is something that has been around since forever. humans have always decorated themselves and gave their clothes and jewels a meaning. it has to do with emotions and aesthetics, not with 'modern times' or whatever you are yapping about. |

for you it's more about fasion
i'm just yapping about modern evolution of behavior and lifestyle and to be ethicly correct you shouldn't wear BLOODDIAMONDS or makeup from animal testing childeren working in gold and diamond mines for 50 cents a day i would like to see you suffer all day in that mine for 50 cent a day and the rest of the world living in decadent luxury what leads most of them to a blind spoonfed consumption retarded inbicil level of awarness of life is that modern? is that the future? is there been a evolution on earth for 5 millions of jears for a human race that lives like bonobo's in a sort of coma? you know that is the reason i don't want childeren |

just for your information: most of my jewelry is vintage, and over fifty years old. i don't own diamonds. i don't buy any 'new' gold since i can't afford it. i only have them because my grandmother gave them to my mother before she died, and made her promise to give the pieces to me when i turned eighteen. i barely wear any make up, and the eyeliner and mascara i use are made by a company that doesn't test on animals. i can say that not one item in my bathroom has been tested on animals. i chose to take care of my presentation, but not at all costs. so i went to look for alternatives. you preach about the rest of the world living in decadence. do you still eat meat regularly? because that's one of the most decadent things to do. the meat industry is responsible for an enormous part of what causes global warming: more than all of the transport in the world combined. do you still drive a car, even for distances that are fine to do with a bike? or when you are able to use public transport? do you turn up the heat every day or just wrap yourself in a blanket when it's not exceptionally cold? i don't think any of this will come through to you, but i can't stand it when people make assumptions about me or the things i do without knowing anyhting about it. |

thanks! i look forward to doing that too... most of the pieces are very elegant and timeless. my grandmother had a very simple and clear style. i also have a few knit dresses from her that i rarely wear (they are a bit too long, she was a tall lady) but i'll always keep them. |

I think YOU are out of time to assume that women are the only ones who wear jewelry such as earrings, etc. A more accurate title to your thread would be: "PEOPLE who wear earrings" |
