Death or Doom

Metal, I mean.

I haven't heard a lot of doom metal but that which I have heard is usually awesome. So I think I'd take it over death metal for the most part. Just the overall attitude seems to appeal to me more.

Somehow I think I already know most of the answer, on this forum...

Doom, for sure. I like the slowed down Sabbathian nature of it. I like some black metal, which to me has similar characteristics sometimes to some of the doomier stuff. Have honestly never ventured much into death metal.

doom is cooler on paper but pretty much all of it is boring is hell

Thrash is just too much for me most of the time. Not dirty enough, I guess.

Anyone ever listen to Flower Traveling Band? Not really "doom", definitely not "death", just an early 70's Japanese rock band with a heavy Sabbath influence. Not all of their stuff is great, but sometimes they'd just nail it. I recommend checkin' 'em out if ya haven't already.

Depends.

I fucking love Death metal when it comes to the old swedish bands like Sorcery, Dismember, Repugnant.
Doom is more enjoyable though since death metal get's pretty boring after a while.

Check out Counterblast. Awesome band.
