Are they any good/noticeably different from the originals? Is Shields planning on doing a vinyl reissue anytime soon?

He said the vinyl would be coming out in a few months. There is a notable difference with the analog tapes but the other disc just sounds louder.

I'm torn about this. I don't like rebuying things. I've got Loveless on CD as well as the Plain Recordings LP, and Isn't Anything on Plain Recordings LP. Shields says the Plain Recordings LPs are boots and don't sound good--I think they sound fine, and the packaging is great.
I am curious about how the analog version sounds though.

Yeah. I may consider the ep collection. But I just recently bought a couple of boots with a lot of ep stuff on it. Wonder if it's the same stuff?
I'm really not into purchasing reissues just for remastering or alternative mixes. Rather spend my money on stuff I don't have yet.

I think both LPs sound fine the way they are, but the EP's definitely need to be louder. So I'll re-buy the whole shebang if it means I can play Ecstasy, Tremolo, etc. without having to crank my iPod.
I almost always forget to uncrank it when I switch to something else. That can be painful. |

This should be entirely obvious, but louder doesn't exactly equate to be better.

There is some cool stuff on the eps collection that wasn't technically available before but you could find due to the internet. This is pretty cool http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GZueurvWak0
I imagine i'll get the loveless repressing. I have one of the original isn't anything creation pressings. I picked it up for a very reasonable price in a second hand record store a few years ago. |

Nobody said it did. MBV's EPs, however, are perfect aside from their volume levels, so it's perfectly applicable. Louder would mean better in this case. |

The EPs were recorded for the volume they were originally presented at. Making them louder without remastering them would sound shitty.
On the new comp, some songs sound much better and others sound "louder" without being remastered and it kills them and ruins the dynamic. Louder didn't mean better in this case really, I would have been happier if the final results on some songs were less muddy sounding. Thankfully they fixed most of that on the comp, making it louder wasn't really an issue. Also, I guess I mistook " definitely need to be louder" for that being the way to improve the sound. Silly me for simply pointing out that doesn't exactly increase the quality.

She's not an engineer. She's not even a musician. I think its pretty easy ti discern her meaning, so bickering about phrasing seems kind of petty.

Can anyone tell me if the boots of the "extras" and EPs and such are much different from this official release of the EPs?
