I just watched it on Starz! On Demand Early Premier, so it should be on Starz! in a few days if you don't have On Demand (my cable provider has it free for all digital cable subscribers.)
I really liked it, it shows you a bunch of things going on that all fall in to place and make sense at the end. It is about a girl who files for sexual harassment on her teacher (played by Ron Livingston). James Woods spoilers, highlight to read: The end sort of left me with a bad taste in my mouth. The movie was really funny, but I sort of disdained the serious turn, even though it had a good message and worked well with the beginning, I almost feel it would have been better if they had her smile at the end instead of smiling and played evil bitch music instead of sorry broken little girl music. I thought the character of Troy was a little too condescending towards both girls when breaking up with them. I know how he felt, but it is sort of hard to really feel sympathetic for a guy who will talk to a girl like that. Maybe the director or writer wanted to show that Troy wasn't even worth it for Kimberly to do that to her best friend. Or maybe I'm just a namby-pants, he was telling the truth after all, but Brittany did finally tell the truth, so maybe he should have gave her that much. I felt really bad for what happened to Ron Livingston too, could he really help being attracted to those girls? He didn't do anything wrong in my opinion. Getting his wife to fulfill a little fetish of his wasn't that bad. Kimberly really reminded me of my ex-girlfriends though, so the movie was kind of eye opening. They had a few little twists and jokes- like the camera above the bed and the scene where the kid who dealt guns was like "I have no idea how that girl got that gun." I really wish they worked a few more jokes like those 2 into the seriousness. |

I've seen it. I thought it was okay. I think the jokes were a little too easy. Like it was trying too hard to be in your face with all thier jokes. Like it was being edgy for the sake of being edgy. Not a bad movie over-all, nothing too exceptional either though.

It was among my favorite films of 2005. I don't remember too much about it now though. Evan Rachel reminded me a lot of Jena Malone in that role.

i didn't think it was that good. should've been a "made for TV" movie. boring story line.
there's a reason why it didn't get any exposure: it wasn't that good. i thought the script was pretty hideous, they overexagerated everything. kids from beverly hills aren't as racist as they make them out. |

Exactly, Kenji.
What's far more worthwhile is the Jim Herbert "Pretty Persuasion" video of R.E.M. around the late Rev. Howard Finster's Paradise Gardens in Somerville, Ga... find it on "R.E.M. Succumbs." There's also a long outtake from the same visit to Finster's called "Left of Reckoning" which is all shot with Prof. Herbert's pioneering "re-filming" technique. Found no videos matching pretty persuasion r.e.m...too cool for youtube |

I didn't think it was that unrealistic, the oral sex scenarios were a little all too familiar for me.
