Buying every single WA picture?
Is it that necessary? I mean, he screwed up at times. Getting a DVD you'll only watch once and find the film lame seems odd. September was a disaster. |

I loved September. I like all the films from that period.
There is something redeeming in every single film that I have seen so far, and I'm sure I will watch them over and over. I never get tired of Woody Allen. He has become my favorite director. I actually got bored with David Lynch, which I never thought would happen. Lynch seems adolescent and predictable to me. Woody Allen is predictable but it's a good kind of predictable--like comfort food.

Wow, I just saw Husbands and Wives for the first time...What a completely bleak film. Cold and barren.

Woody writes great dialogue for women.
I like his line in that one: See, I will always have this penchant for what I call kamikaze women. I call them kamikazes because they, you know they crash their plane, they're self-destructive. But they crash into you, and you die along with them.

Manhatten is probably his masterpiece. Has anybody seen Shadows and Fog? I don't hear it mentioned a lot but I thought it was pretty interesting. It had a good mood going for it.

I've seen that, but I need to watch it again. It's been a few years and all I recall is that mood.

Manhattan?
one of my least favorite Mariel Hemingway is goofy & not believable. Shadows & Fog is great. |

I saw Scoop again today. The first time was free.
It's still funny the second time, only slightly less...I caught jokes I didn't notice before.
