We don't have a set term though the terms are limited to five years. Normally terms last for about four years. But as this a hung parliament and the Conservatives are going to be sharing power with the Liberal Democrats, it's quite possible that an election could be called within the next year, or a few months. Depends how badly things go. I really don't have a strong opinion on how long it will last. The Lib Dems are in policy pretty different to the Conservatives. I just hope people will have seen enough of how shit the Conservatives are to not vote them in again in the next election.

It was weird. I don't think it was the fact that Brown alone was leaving, but his speech sort of felt like a final epitaph to the New Labour project as a whole - especially as it came soon after watching Mandelson and Campbell walking away down the road. Noone knows yet but it's predicted to be atleast three or four years. Personally I think it'll collapse before then and we'll have another election in a year or two, and then who knows? To be honest, my views on the whole thing are flip flopping all over the place - apart from the utter revulsion I felt watching Cameron enter No 10. That hasn't altered a bit.

Yeah, you're right. Maybe this has been a pretty significant period in politics. It is pretty sad. I've got hope for David Milliband though.

I really like Alastair Campbell too, though I think he said on the news today that he will still have some involvement with the party, which would be good.
