Don't know yet. I might be going to the semi-final of the Champions League if the results go Arsenal's way. It could be on the same night as EN, or it could be the night after. I'll have to wait a while and hope there are still tickets left. Update 8/2/07 - F*ck the footie! I'm going to Einstuerzende!!

Many thanks for that.
February 18th - 20th 2007 Resonance FM Fundraisers: How Much Do You Love Us? Each £10, all at The Spitz, EC2 Resonance 104.4FM's future is in jeopardy unless £60,000 is raised by August 2007. In the cash and romance spirit of Valentines day, tell Resonance FM how you love them by donating a few quid on the following triptych of post-Valentines Day gigs. Sunday Feb 18th Resonance FM Fundraiser - How Much Do You Love Us? £10,The Spitz, EC2. First in a series of a three day fundraising marathon for the inimitable Resonance FM. Avant-pop types The Chap (fresh from remixing Beck and Block Party) headline with support from instrumental trio Limn and Shimmy Rivers And And Canal; who offer-up angular venomous pop with echoes of the B52s. Johnny Trunk, Trunk Records impresario, is Disc Jockey. All proceeds go to keeping Resonance 104.4FM on air. http://.www.thechap.org http://www.4thharmonic.com/ http://shimmyriversandandcanal.com/ http://www.myspace.com/shimmyriversandandcanal http://www.trunkrecords.com/ Monday 19th Feb Resonance FM Fundraiser - How Much Do You Love Us? £10,The Spitz, EC2. Second in a trio of fundraisers for the hard-up yet totally unique and essential Resonance FM. Tonight's show looks with both eyes at troubadors, bluegrass and filthy garage. Attempting to save Resonance FM's skin with music and noises are filthy garage punks The Fabulous Penetrators; Independent on Sunday cartoonist, writer and singer-songwriter Peter Blegvad (author of the Leviathan strip); former Long Ryder Sid Griffin delivers a fine bluegrass set with his quintet Sid Griffin and The Coal Porters; and rounding things off is All Tomorrow's Parties signing Alexander Tucker, a somewhat odd amalgam of David Crosby, doom metal and Terry Riley. DJ sets from Joe Cushley and Martin 'Bonanza' Myers. All proceeds go to keeping Resonance 104.4FM on air. http://www.myspace.com/thefabulouspenetrators http://www.myspace.com/bonanzablues http://www.leviathan.co.uk/menu.html http://www.sidgriffin.com/ http://www.atpfestival.com/atp-recordings/alexander-tucker/ http://www.myspace.com/alexanderdtucker Tuesday 20th Feb Resonance FM Fundraiser - How Much Do You Love Us? £10,The Spitz, EC2. Multi-media arts and music gang the Glass Shrimp host this third and final fundraising extravaganza on behalf of Resonance 104.4 FM. On the bill Leafhound, The Rebel and Le Tetsuo Few rock albums have achieved greater cult status than Leaf Hounds 'Growers of Mushroom' (1971 Decca, 1971 Telefunken). The album has gradually acquired a mythical status. Following intense public demand, Pete French put a new version of his legendary band Leaf Hound together in the Spring of 2004 - psychedelic heavy rocks and kosmic blues freakery. The Rebel are fronted by the Country Teasers mainman Ben Wallers and is an experimental noise project located in the sleat grey zone that lies somwherebetween The Fall and Throbbing Gristle. Le Tetsuo are a three piece art-rock combo from Norwich they also have their feet in two seemingly opposite camps - Shellac and Frank Zappa. http://.www.leafhound.net http://www.myspace.com/leafhound http://www.therebel.co.uk http://www.myspace.com/letetsuo http://glassshrimp.blogspot.com/ February 18th - 20th 2007 Resonance FM Fundraisers: How Much Do You Love Us? TWO TRIOS AND A SOLO SCENTED Annette Giesriegl – voice, electronics Stefan Heckel – piano John Edwards – double bass Veryan Weston – SOLO PIANO ELECTROSPLAT Matt Hutchinson – keyboard, electronics Marcio Mattos – cello, electronics Frank Charlton – cornet, percussion The Red Rose Club 129 Seven Sisters Road London N7 Doors open 8 pm for 8.30 pm start Admission £6/£4 concs. Finsbury Park Tube SCENTED Strolling through Jerusalem's Old City, Annette and Stefan ended up in a rather special perfume shop. The Arabic shop owner opened one oil flask after the other, allowing one scented Genie after another to escape and settle in our noses. We would like to share the smells and scents with John (Edwards) and, of course, the audience - and may the Genies play well on our instruments...... VERYAN WESTON will play a solo piano set which will be all improvised, although it will probably reflect some of the recent ideas he is working on as well as unconsciously digging up some of the residue from more longterm musical experiences. ELECTROSPLAT get together again to explore and experientially splash fresh textures and colours in sonic space. |

THIS THURSDAY FEBRUARY 22ND
PHIL MINTON Avant-garde vocalist Phil Minton has been a pioneering presence in the British free jazz movement for over a quarter of a century. Fascinated with sound, the process of deep listening and the limits of the human voice, Minton has developed a vocal range that is astonishing; from percussive 'mouth noise' and sustained baritone to high-pitched stutterings, yodeling and animalistic gurgling, each fused by Minton's unrestricted musicality. Live the physical dimension of Minton's art is fully evident - torso-twisting, facial contortions, crouching and stretching reveal the total body commitment integral to his singing. It can be funny, scary, confrontational and uplifting, usually at much the same time. PETER WRIGHT (Last Visible Dog, Celebrate PSI Phenomenon, Digitalis, Foxlove, Ikuisuus,...) Disconnected avant guitar gloop distilled through a series of electronic filters and single malt, heavily influenced by guitar pop, free jazz/improv, atonal guitar noise, cats and city trash. SINDRE BJERGA (Gold Soundz, Time-Lag Records, Carbon Records, 267 Lattajjaa, Beniffer Editions,...) Frozen trance from Gold Soundz label boss. FAMILY BATTLE SNAKE (Absurd, Curor, Beyond Repair, Turgid Animal, Long Long Chaney, ...) Heavy telepathetic improvisations from Bill Kouligas - Strings, Electronics. NAEH Ritualistic eastern drone from this underground psych unit. First ever live appearance! + Ultra weird dj set by Isambard Kingston Brunel RED ROSE CLUB 129 Seven Sisters Road, N7 7QG Finsbury Park (Nearest Tube) £5, 8.00 pm |

Is anyone going to this tomorrow....
Concerto for Voice & Machinery II Concerto for Voice & Machinery II is an ICA commissioned re-enactment of the infamous gig by some members of Einsturzende Neubauten and other musicians such as Genesis P Orridge and Frank 'Fad Gadget' Tovey, which took place at the ICA on 3rd January 1984 and was composed around the use of industrial machinery, destruction of raw materials and ultimately the theatre stage. Review of original gigi here: http://micksinclair.com/sounds/einica.html More info: http://www.ica.org.uk/Concerto+for+Voice+%26amp%3B+Machinery+II+12871.tw l http://arts.guardian.co.uk/filmandmu...013570,00.html http://www.goethe.de/ins/gb/lon/kue/.../en1921151.htm Should be funny to see how they recreate it safely... The ICA phoned me today and asked me if I was aware that it would only last 30 minutes and that I still wanted to attend. Sounds like they don'y want people to go... Will report back if still alive! |
