Hahaha the Nicolas cage one? Dont forget that Kevin Smith's Dogma also took a lot of inspiration from Wings of Desire and that movie owns
I remember Tarantino saying the Breathless remake was better than the original which has always sparked my curiosity. I should finally watch that this year |

mutton is just older lamb. Very nice. Unique taste but, as el Symbols says, close to goat. It tends to be used in stews or heavily marinaded in a kebab.
.. Anyway, back to movies A Nightmare on Elm Street (Remake) I seem to be alone in actually quite liking this. It definitely has its faults, and no way can it compare with the original, but compared with most of the other recent remakes, this isn't half bad. The emphasis is less on Freddie and more on the weirdness of sleep-deprivation, which it does pretty well. Quote:
I couldn't stand Last Jedi but besides that, I still think the best SW film all round is IV. Empire is just behind it for me but it works best if you watch it as part of the trilogy whereas IV is complete in and of itself. Also, with Empire, I always think its best part is the battle on Hoth, which the remainder of the film never quite lives up to. Quote:
Are you talking about the one from the 80s with Richard Gere or a new remake - which I've not heard anything about? Re the original, I suppose its place in film history makes it inevitable that it's gonna be overhyped to some degree. But then the same could be said of stuff like Battleship Potemkin, Birth of a Nation and Citizen Kane. With the exception of Kane I'd call them significant rather than films I'd want to watch just for the hell of it. |

Episode 4 is a solid pick for the best. It certainly is the star wars film which captures the franchise's adventurous spirit best
Sorta reminds me of the whole Back to the Future 1 vs 2 argument I constantly get into w my friends And yes, the Richard Gere Beeathless. Tarantino loves it but I've never seen it. I'm assuming they play it straight? I adore Godard's original. I always say that between Breathless and Eraserhead (and maybe Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Pink Flamingos... and Clerks, if I'm being honest) you can literally learn everything u need to know about movies and filmmaking. |

mutton is a sheep that is older than a year. like lamb but more flavorful. beefier actually, and it’s mixed with beef for doner kebab. BUT ANYWAY.
i love potemkin. i rewatch it sometimes, it’s like looking at egyptian art of something. breathless i get the camera was quick but i don’t love it. was talking about the original. hence the comparison with melville. jean-pierre melville. the last name was his code name from his commando days. no joke. resistance paratrooper was he? anyway. glorious fucking movies where godard always leaves me cold. melville does praise breathless in an interview and sure it was an important flick but melville was.... ah, just watch melville. concur that the first star wars (1977 or whatever) was the best one in that a) it works on its own b) it was a cultural phenomenon c) had no fucking eewoks d) contains gross incest which wtf lucas getting away with it e) biggest place in history than breathless, f) etc. i loved it as a kid , but doesnt do a lot for me in this age. same as bugs bunny. what’s up doc? pink flamingos now that is a movie i can watch all day. my old dvd rip died of something so i no longer do so much but ah shit i love edie now more than i loved r2d2 then |

Cant go wrong w some Chuck Jones era Bugs Bunny
Breathless just feels so alive, even today. I've never felt a movie feel as light and shapeless. Idk I feel like movies have certain auras and I totally dig Breathless' |

Hmm. Possibly true, actually. I’m not sure. I like the Dark Knight the most, and it has that Ledger performance, but as overall films the two you mentioned could certainly be the best. Dunkirk too. Quote:
I’m a bigger DC guy than Marvel guy, but I like Marvel movies in general more than DC movies (with the exception of the Nolan Batman ones, of course... and maybe Man of Steel) |
