Laundromat
Very interesting story (about the Panama Papers) with some very big actors but the way it was written to screen was very annoying, and most of the actors were annoying as well especially the two bankers. The only highlight was Meryl Streep.

Oddly enough, I live real close to where he used to live (Nuenen which is a suburb of Eindhoven which is where I live). But all I know of Nuenen is that there's a good Chinese restaurant.

Indeed it is. However, just to adjust your expectations a bit: 4 is less of an ensemble movie than the others were. I mean, the ensemble is of course still there, but number 4 really zeros in on the journey of a certain character. Thought that was a great choice. And thematically it was probably the most nuanced of the bunch. Quote:
Oh, then I actually have watched one of the Illumination movies. Wasn't my choice. A good friend if mine wanted to watch it. She was somewhat disappointed. My expectations were pretty much met (they weren't high). Pure fluff describes it quite well. I thought the way New York was depicted visually was pretty cool, but thematically and tonally it was all over the place. Don't remember much of the plot really, except for that bunny giving the whole thing a complete tonal whiplash whenever he appeared. Like, he wasn't necessary to the plot at all and every time his shenanigans were on display, it was a complete detour from what I remember. |

Fantastic movie. I have a sense that with all the hype around this movie that there will be a backlash from people who say this movie is overrated, in fact I'm already seeing that. I dug the hell out of it. |

it is that good, one thing I see is drawing social issues out of it, which I really don't think is warrented. The Host had a bit more of that

Why do Jackie Chan movies have to be so stupid? It might be decades since I last saw The Godfather, and remembered it as long and slow. But wow, such a great movie. Will watch 2 and 3 later this week, and then start all over with Coppola's commentary enabled.

This is an absolute trainwreck of a movie, that I'm now old enough to appreciate on those merits. Don't watch on acid.

very cool movie, which becomes even cooler after you've seen how they made it. Great cast of (voice) actors as well

I liked it but I felt a little odd about it after reading some comments about the use of Asian stereotypes and so on. Good, but frankly a little uncomfortable. |

Worst movie? So do you just not watch movies that are actual shit or what? You pretending Fast & Furious doesn’t have eight sequels? Come on. |

Watched a history of the Weathermen the other night. Pretty interesting times in those days, I’ll tell ya. It was pretty well done, but didn’t really give you a sense of the international flavor of the revolutionary movement in those days. Defn worth a watch, though.

Finally watching Midsommar. Already super disturbing.
Well made but there seems to be a volume issue. It’s barely audible except for the score. |
