There is SO MUCH I have hated in the last 3 seasons. SO MUCH, yet I have kept it within myself, for I still enjoy the dumbshit , non-thinking entertainment of the last 3 seasons. Seasons 1-5 were Shakespeare. Seasons 6-8 have been more Josh Whedon......

hahaaaahaaa.., JOSS whedon. ye he uses tropes but he uses them more intelligently, with postmodern irony or whatever. granted he’s more “clever” than “deep” but i still like him tons.

what i have been disliking (it’s an hbo thing, they do it in other shows. oh they do it also on that stupid walking dead which is not hbo) it’s these meaningless “aesthetic inderludes” with slow music and beautiful cinematography where NOTHING FUCKING HAPPENS. i guess we’re supposed to “feel” something. the slow fucking music says so! i feel boredom and impatience...

i mean. these people are not antonioni. they’re just fucking corny. move along, nothing to see here! sheesh. filling up the timecode... you’re not antonioni, motherfuckers...

Exactly. Perfectly put. And I think that is why the meme !@#$%! posted is so damn brilliant too. Sums it all up perfectly.

And I am not trying to totally shit on it either. It really has been a rollercoaster of "this is cool" to "this is stupid as shit," but I have enjoyed watching through it still for the most part, I will certainly admit. It was just a process of recognizing the shift, accepting it, and rolling with it, taking it for what it became. It's just sad that so many well-written characters had to become such shells of who they started out as. SPOILER: (The way they finalized Littlefinger was probably my biggest frustration. The "true" Littlefinger would not have been outsmarted and outwitted the way he was by any means. In fact, GOT to me was pretty much always a chess game between Varys and Littlefinger.)

the guy who played Varis spoke in an interview that he was pretty upset that Varys was unused in last 2 seasons. He stated that he had always seen the machinations between Varys and LittleFinger to be central to the story, and the fact they killed off Varys before he had a chance to face off against Littlefinger sucked for him.

Actually...I just remembered that there actually is a theory of Tyrion possibly being Targaryan. It was all the rage when peeps were trying to theorize who would ride the third dragon. Thinking on it now, that could be a fun final episode twist.

I have lost all faith in this show really having any more fun/smart twists though...
