Hey friends,
just a small update from my side. I decided to contact Slovak embassy in Switzerland last Thursday, because I desperately wanted to go home to be with my family. they put me on a bus with other Slovaks who work in Switzerland and we went for a 14 hour bus drive home. The thing is that they immediately put us to quarantine on Friday morning in a secluded location in the woods and I've been stuck in strick lockdown since then. We can't leave our rooms, we can only go to balcony to get some fresh air, and we can't get in contact with other people. We are treated very well (3 meals a day, and I have to say, very GOOD meals), we get tea and coffee, but I'm dying of boredom. Literally, to be stuck in a 2x2 metre space makes me think of how can it feel like to be in prison. But at least I'm not in Switzerland anymore, where there's more than 8k infected now. Hopefully we'll get tested tomorrow or day after tomorrow and then I'll see if I'm clean or infected. Wish me luck.

Slavo, glad you're quarrantined without contact with your fellow travelers. It might mean for a pretty crappy stay, but a whole lot less chance of getting it

Damn, slavo...glad you managed to get closer to your family, be strong while you have to wait for the quarantine/test results. Honestly, it’s a very good thing you get tested before reuniting with the family, the last thing you’d want is to put them in danger (obviously) being a potential asymptomatic positive. Stay strong and try to let time pass without going (too) mad. Yesterday I was joking with a friend saying that perhaps humans will evolve developing the ability to hibernate while waiting for things to settle. Nature is doing pretty fine without us in the way, a yearly hibernation of a couple months could be nice for the whole planet

Good Luck Slavo! Very wise decision to leave Swiss especially with your housing situation above the bar. And look on the bright side, you still have internet :-)
Some news from my country: Over here there were also too many morons going to parks and beach over the weekend to enjoy the nice weather (sunny blue sky but still 10 degrees). Later tonight (in 40 minutes) there will be a press conference were probably more severe restrictions will be announced. I tried to deliver my groceries home, spent the afternoon to make a list online, only to realise that all delivery slots are full for the next two weeks :-(( So I'll still need to go to the supermarket in a few days... there's a slight chance that there will become more slots though

Yesterday's Science magazine's interview with Anthony Fauci (cited everywhere today) is the fucking bomb. Just a few nuggets:
Q: You stood nearby while President Trump was in the Rose Garden shaking hands with people. You’re a doctor. You must have had a reaction like, “Sir, please don’t do that.” A: Yes, I say that to the task force. I say that to the staff. We should not be doing that. Not only that—we should be physically separating a bit more on those press conferences. To his credit, the vice president [Mike Pence] is really pushing for physical separation of the task force [during meetings]. He keeps people out of the room—as soon as the room gets like more than 10 people or so, it’s, “Out, everybody else out, go to a different room.” So with regard to the task force, the vice president is really a bear in making sure that we don’t crowd 30 people into the Situation Room, which is always crowded. So, he’s definitely adhering to that. The situation on stage [for the press briefings] is a bit more problematic. I keep saying, “Is there any way we can get a virtual press conference?” Thus far, no. But when you’re dealing with the White House, sometimes you have to say things one, two, three, four times, and then it happens. So, I’m going to keep pushing. Q: You’re standing there saying nobody should gather with more than 10 people and there are almost 10 people with you on the stage. And there are certainly more than 10 journalists there asking questions. A: I know that. I’m trying my best. I cannot do the impossible. Q: What about the travel restrictions? Trump keeps saying that the travel ban for China, which began 2 February, had a big impact on slowing the spread of the virus to the United States and that he wishes China would have told us 3 to 4 months earlier and that they were “very secretive.” (China did not immediately reveal the discovery of a new coronavirus in late December 2019, but by 10 January, Chinese researchers made the sequence of the virus public.) It just doesn’t comport with facts. A: I know, but what do you want me to do? I mean, seriously Jon, let’s get real, what do you want me to do? Q: Most everyone thinks that you’re doing a remarkable job, but you’re standing there as the representative of truth and facts, but things are being said that aren’t true and aren’t factual. A: The way it happened is that after he made that statement [suggesting China could have revealed the discovery of a new coronavirus 3 to 4 months earlier], I told the appropriate people, it doesn’t comport, because 2 or 3 months earlier would have been September. The next time they sit down with him and talk about what he’s going to say, they will say, “By the way, Mr. President, be careful about this and don’t say that.” But I can’t jump in front of the microphone and push him down. OK, he said it. Let’s try and get it corrected for the next time.

Best of luck with everything, Slavo.
In other news: Radiohead guitarist Ed O'Brien believes he has the virus.

Pelosi won't give this vulture capitalist a $ 500 billion dollar slush fund. Remember his wife? The one pictured here who laid into the little people on Twitter who dared question her use of a government jet for shopping trips?

Lockdown confirmed for the UK.
Still not the foggiest as to whether I can go to work or not. As a self employed worker it's essential for me to go in. Main thing is the building sites I've been working on have enacted a rule saying that only one trade in any house at any one time so that helps with distancing. The fact there's been no financial help for self employed workers is just depressing. Not surprising, mind.
