re: McLaren - the idea was, by many accounts, theived from Throbbing Gristle/ COUM transmissions' music and aesthetic, but with this idea of making it more like Hell/ the Ramones. And failed on both parts, although I quite like some Pistols. Whatever, the Pistols' music is little more than borrowed Faces riffs.

They may have been covered already (I ain't wading through fifteen pages to find out) but I think Radiohead are a bunch of whining, po-faced, joyless fucktards.
A funnier title for this thread would've been 'Tipping the Sacred Cows'. |

The Birthday Party are a lot better than Nick Cave solo.
Bob Dylan ripped off Woody Guthrie (it might be a fact though)

My Unpopular music opinion: There are way better Sonic Youth albums than Daydream Nation. I'm more into their early 80's music over the stuff you hear in the DDN/Dirty/Goo era.

West european and American music (from Beatles to Cardigans, from Elvis to Nirvana) would sound all the same to an alien from outerspace. The alien would say: "The songstructures are all the same, the singers all sound alike, the instruments are all equal, the studios that produced them are all the same, and bands all look alike." "So whats the big deal with music? Why does anyone care?" |
