depends on the algeria-england result later today. if england wins (as expected) they get 4 points like slovenia but who's ahead will depend on the goal difference. then we are forced to win over algeria & kick their asses by much-- at least 2 goals-- and then see what happens w/ england slovenia-- in other words, it's all still up in the air.

I've watched the replays and the only potential foul(s) I saw were from Slovenia. A shocking decision.

the ref was terrible on that play... if anything it would have been defensive foul.

no, Slovenia have already won their first game vs Algeria so they're on 4 points, so you'd want an England loss if you're supporting USA... a draw would be ok for you too, but then it's going to be about goal difference in the last game.


Just saw the goal, I don't see anything wrong with it. If anything, it's the Slovenian players making a foul.

USA were at their best when Bradley put them three at the back. So long as it's not at England's expense, I'd like the USA to qualify if only because they look like they'll put up a great fight regardless of who they play. At 2-0 down they might've crumbled but they're nothing if not determined. They're like a lot of the Asian sides, but stronger.

And if England don't win their next two games, frankly they don't deserve to qualify.

This second round is turning into a stonewall classic. Not a bad game so far, with no team showing any signs of genuine dominance.

this is an idea i've had for a while, and i'm not sure why it isn't used in every sport. have the main ref wear an earpiece... link him to a judge who sits in the dark with endless replay cameras available to him. on any big play or any questionable play he simply tells the ref in play that the call was wrong. he doesn't even have to speak if a correct call was made. actually he doesn't even need an earpiece... just a signal. hell, red light / green light can tell the ref if he made the right call. it is absolutely stupid that everybody at home and the announcers and the fans can see an instant replay and the one person making the call, cannot. sorry but this has been brought up so many times in every sport and there is no logical answer for it.

how wouldn't this work? there is seemingly no downside to me. you even call the guy the "judge" and he can sit in heavily tinted windows so nobody can distract/disturb/affect him. we have raplays available within seconds... much less time than it takes for a player to celebrate a score. and if i'm not mistaken, an earpiece wouldn't slow down or hinder a ref at all.
