Yeah, although something definitely has to be done about the UEFA cup, at least. That schedule is absurd and too many teams involved have other priorities, to the extent that many of them don't even field full strength sides until the very last stages, if at all. Also, teams that drop out of the CL shouldn't then get entred into the UEFA cup. Too many teams, too many games for not enough reward. And in England we should probably think about ditching the League (or Capital One) cup that seems to be treated as a wooden spoon even by those who win it. |

Yeah. They change the names all the time. It's getting to be as difficult as knowing how to address a 'person of colour' in polite society.

Haha. Or Chris Rock. But yeah, Europa = UEFA, for now. Don't get too comfortable though, no doubt someone at FIFA is thinking up a new name as we speak. It's absurd. I honestly couldn't tell you the names of all the leagues in England anymore. It's absurd. Once you just had divisions 1-4 and it all made sense, then they renamed the 1st division the Prem, the old 2nd division became the Championship, the old 3rd Division became the 2nd division, etc. Plus you had the Milk Cup becaming the League Cup which then became the Capital One Cup and the Charity Shield became the Community Shield, until you didn't know where the fuck you were. And people think the off side rule is complicated!

Precisely, so why ruin it with all the extra activities? It's a home not a tent. You should try it, you'll sleep better. |

El Symbols, I don't know if you're able to get the football magazine When Saturday Comes in the US, but I just finished reading this month's issue and there's a four page article in it written by a Dortmund fan chronicling his experience at the CL final. You'd love it. One of the best pieces of fan journalism I've read in ages. Lots of lovely insights about (largely lighthearted) insults and chants being traded between rival supporters and the experience of him finding himself in a pub close to Wembley before the game, taken over entirely by Bayern fans. If you can find it you really must get it. Otherwise let me know and I'll try and find a way of scanning the article and posting it here. Either way, you really must read it!
This is this month's cover if you are somehow able to get it. A great (or in their own words 'half decent') magazine in its own right, too. |

That's absurd. I'd price Baines at at least 15m. Probably closer to 20m (roughly what they value him at here). And even with that you'd struggle to really replace him. |

No problem. I'll have to do it from work, though, so it'll be some time next week.
In the mean time, I reckon even Suarez might've blushed at this ... |

Looking forward to it!
--- When extra time was over I knew Italy would win on penalties I just didn't know it would be in such a horrid way. And hats of to Buffon for being a true gentleman. |

Damn. I forgot all about the third place game, although they must be so deflating for the players involved, who I'm sure just wanna go home after they're knocked out.
And yeah, I never saw Buffon today but he always strikes me as a really decent guy. Psyched for the game tonight. |

It was a great game and both teams really wanted to win. A ton of fun. For the final, here's hoping Neymar gets a boot to the teeth. |

Perfect start really. Spain will have to go for it now.
EDIT, I'll be amazed if both teams have 11 men by the end of this. |

haha. it was a great goal, too, but Spain are definitely a shadow now of the team they were 2-3 years ago. Full credit to Brazil though.
