hard to think how such a fire got started with no ability to stop it. Insane the amounts of artworks that must be being destroyed. (well, the ones that were not destroyed by the French Revolution enlightenment peeps)

an update an hour ago that fortunately the structure survived. meaning the stone structure which could have collapsed due to rapid heat or who knows what else.
the spire that burned apparently was a 19th century reconstruction of the original, so there’s that. this tweet came out of la fenice today: https://twitter.com/teatrolafenice/s...919228928?s=21 |

France is sadz cuz of burny building, in a country where 65% are avowed atheists...
too soon? I will return in a few weeks then....when we can again make fun of Roman Catholic rape Church holdings going up in flames like the millions of lives they have destroyed.

Found it interesting (and unfortunate) that the Associated Press article this morning about Notre Dame in the FIRST paragraph said the city was “recently rocked by violent demonstrations.” Only at the end of the article was there mention of the large amount of old dry wood in the structure and the presence of old flammable wood preservatives (they actually used resin and olive oil) and the use of cutting torches.

this makes no sense. a building burned. the only apt comparison is to ask what houstonians would feel if astrodome burned down. either way....

I love Paris. But a city to me is not it's superstition buildings. My Paris is a Paris of ideas, and atheism, and intellectual revolution, not a church built by a king to cover up an old Roman site of worship.

that church is not about religion anymore. or should i say not just about it, because for some people it obviously is (not for me, but that’s irrelevant). what ive been trying to tell you in various ways but seems im not getting my point across is that your little personal spectacle about your antireligious views is the stupidest kind of speech to be making while a great city with great history that loves art like no other place i’ve ever been is mourning the (luckily, partial) destruction of one of its great mythical centers. mythical, not religious. but religion is all your see with your mad blinders. i mean, you’re being as rude as the asshole who shows up at a funeral to start selling life insurance to the mourners like it’s a great opportunity to remind people they can be next too! hey who cares about what you feel, just buy my product. im your friend here man, and sometimes a friend has to grab a friend from the collar and drag him out of a party when he gets too drunk and starts to act stupid. shut the fuck up about religion for a moment and let’s go eat a hamburger or something. im buying |

it is called "code switching" Black and Latino people switch from the language they use around white folks to try and stave off their goddamn racism and jingoism ("proper" English), to the speech patterns and vocalizations that are used in their respective communities. Most white folks do not do this probably because no one with any real power is judging them.
(very poor white people that have been educated will do the same tho, in order to talk to a co-worker as opposed to a relative who would better understand the language and slang of their roots.)

no prob. I didn't know you were French. I guessed you were Catholic. I never said I was happy that Notre Dame caught fire. I hate the forces that enslaved millions to pay for that fucking shit (France AND the Vatican)
