Hmmm....wow...didn't think it'd spark a debate.
anyways...I was honestly never rough before I started dating her. I barely even watched hardcore porn. No joke....and the whole thing with demonrail was about when I posted some pictures of Japanese girls with blood/bruises/wounds on them. I remember he said something about fetishes with that or something and I thought it was aimed at me rather than just bringing up the topic....anyways....It was she that initiated it and it goes both ways really, we're both having fun. We're both very clear on what's cool and not cool. I respect her VERY much and she does the same. thanks for yer concerns? btw I blame tumblr porn. |

We're leaving the prairie. Hallelujah. Praise the Lord. Pass the gravy.
Two lonnnnng years in a small town (pop. 9,000) in the middle of nowhere (an hour's drive to the nearest metro area). We just signed a lease for a great little cottage close, but not too close, to campus in the town of my alma mater. Nice. I will have to commute, but the trade-off is worth it.

This has been more than the sticks, in my opinion. It's a little town. All by its lonesome. Surrounded by farmland and farmland and farmland. It is pretty, it is peaceful, and it has its charm. But it is dead dull.
My "Location" under my avatar has not been accurate. However, it will be in a few months. Iowa City is a sweet little university town, and we are so glad to be taking up residence again. Whenever we do anything, movies, dining out, music, farmer's market, buying decent groceries, whatever, it's in Iowa City, which means we have to drive an hour. IC also has a fantastic library. Now we'll be living there. Yahoo.

oooooh i see. i live in the way-out sticks. little town is 30 minutes away. city is 2+ hours.
i love it, but then again no city around here is really worth the bother-- we just go there to do chores. |

We thought it would be good, and in a way, it has served my bride well, as she has had to hunker down and study for her grad classes. But we miss being able to walk out our door and walk, not drive, to all of the stuff we enjoy. Right now, whenever we want to do anything, instead of just spontaneously getting up and doing it, we have to go through a big decision process, because we have to think about the hour drive there and back. When we're in Iowa City, even a drive to some place isn't a big deal--5 or 10 minutes across town, basically.

Heh heh, yeah.
Thing is, though, I am giving up my walking work commute. The office is an easy 10- to 15-minute walk here. I'll now have to drive an hour both ways. My love will walk to work in I.C., however. We decided that I'll be the one to take the hit for the cause, which I'm fine with. It would scare me to death to think of her having to drive in the wintertime. There is always a trade-off. No place is perfect. Time to stock up on the audio books.

a few weeks ago, a friend of mine told me about the time he thought one of his friends got beaten up by her boyfriend. She had weird bruises and they both acted very strange when he asked if something was going on. At some point the boyfriend said it was okay to tell him. Apparently she was taking a shower and he came into the bathroom to take a shit and it was so smelly that she threw up in the shower, slipped on it and fell. I love that story, I wish it was mine.
