I think it also has to do with the philosophy of transcendental meditation, that he practices since the seventies. (When it comes to giving yourself a treat, once a day).

He reportedly is still a very big proponent of transcendental meditation and often lectures at and visits retreats. In fact, his new book is due very soon all about the subject. It's called "Catching the Big Fish." To me, and I write from my own experience here, it's a bit of a joke that a western man who is a smoker and a big coffee drinker is able to quiet their mind to much of a degree. |

it should be fine as long as no one puts a fish in the percolater...
lynch and donavan are going on tour promoting transcendental meditation. DL has been meditating for 30 years and says all his ideas are from spiritual journies.

I'm really surprised that David Lynch is starting a coffee brand. I mean the man who's movies have gone against commercialism, and American ideals is making a coffee company! I actually think more power to him, he must just really like coffee.

Damn, I wish he was going to be in D.C on Saturday. Thanks for the news.

According to recent interviews, he wants to take the profits from the coffee venture and parlay them into working capital for his new film company that will operate as independently as possible from the film studios and traditional motion picture distribution networks. Lynch dreams of Absurda Films becoming a collective for a new generation of experimental filmmakers. |

A friend of mine got a sneak taste of the coffee...he reckons at first it tastes and smells and looks like coffee, but then 3/4 of the way in it just turns into lemonaid.
