Since you ask, the name "digestive" derived from the belief that the biscuits had antacid properties due to the use of bicarbonate of soda when they were first developed.

There is actually some significance to the number and layout of holes in the biscuit, but what that significance is has slipped my mind for the moment.

The noble Bourbon is indeed a fine biscuit. Digestives are also great, chocolate covered or otherwise. But why has no-one mentioned Rich Tea biscuits? A basic biscuit yes, but surely the one whose taste improves by the largest factor post tea dunking?
