Back to the matter at hand, I seriously object to all rap battles, it makes hip-hop a sport rather than an artform. Check out DJ Sushi for a notable conscientious objector.

some of the early free style battles were very artistic, the art of observing and creating free form poetry. i think some of its awesome. i mean someone like lil wayne, the guy hasnt written rhymes down in 5 years, all of his raps are free form, he mustve have dont some amazing battles.
