i meant that they didn't have the energy to really deliver their simple rocking garage punk with all the force it needed.
the snakes were great but they never moved me. i never saw them live and i think that's besides the point, if a band can't translate their live energy on record or find another way to convey their stuff, then they are half assed. |

what was it about their music or recordings that sounded "half-assed"? Have you heard Automatic Midnight? Nothing about that album sounds half-assed. sorry dude, not getting ya. not everything john reis does has to be "atom jack"... does everything david pajo do have to be "good morning, capt."? dude, get over it. jehu was done along time ago and they only put out one great album, and it wasn't "yank crime". most of us have moved on, even the biggest of fans. |

to me, they don't seem to be so energized, that's all. to me, obviously they have a very large, devoted fan base, i fail to see what they see, but then again, i don't expect everybody to like the same things i like.
that's why i can listen to jehu albums and you can listen to snakes albums, don;t we? but again, to me, if they applied the same passion to the simple rocking garage punk, i would certainly like them more, but they didn't, or so it seems to me. again, i never said i was jehu's biggest fan, in fact, sometimes when i hear yank crime it sounds too samey. but i get the urge to listen to jehu more than hot snakes, sorry. by the way, what does david pajo has to do with anything? |

why do they not seem "so energized"? if anything, jehu was less energized of a band than hot snakes. hot snakes were to the point where jehu used long intros to "build up momentum" in songs. jehu builds up energy and hot snakes start out energized. |

yeah, but what is it about the hot snakes that makes you feel they were "not so energized"? have you heard audit in progress? just wondering, if you can't explain your answers then how do you expect us to understand? |

this album's still amazing.
I was a bit underwhelmed by the obits album when I first got it but listening to it a few times, it's not too bad... The bass playing makes the album... all the guitar lines sound the same (vaguely surfy one note runs that aren't catchy and kinda sound awful sometimes), but the songwriting is intelligent and complex. Ultimately, every song, save a few, sounds exactly the same. Night Marches on the other hand is really excellent, John Reis never lets me down. |

There was a time a little while ago that Hot Snakes were all that I listened to.
Still put in on while driving. Like this here is fucking badass. |

seriously, this is one of the best bands ever, they don't have a single bad song. Of course, they only have like, oh, 37 songs altogether, but they all rule.
Yeah, No Hands is amazing. Audit and Auto Midnight both rule, but I think this is their most consistent, I've listened to it 1000 times and still pick up on new things about it. Also, why did I spell the title "sucide invoice"? Oh well. |
