I might agree if Corgan wasn't the lead singer. |

Actually, the first thing that my friend, who was not familiar with Sonic Youth at all, said when he heard Jams was, "this sounds like Smashing Pumpkins."

My sister said the same thing, and I don't really hear it though. EDIT: 1000 Posts. All of my milestone posts are used in a trashy manner. |

It is ridiculous to compare Sonic Youth to the Smashing Pumpkins... they are not in the same league.
The words shit and shinola immediately spring to mind.

It changed to a discussion of Siamese Dream and its merits when people who dislike or hate the Pumpkins for whatever reason freaked out at the idea of a Sonic Youth song sounding like 1979. Which is stupid.

Pink Steam is not the best song....which is why I'm glad I didn't vote. The best song is obviously Reena.

Well 1979 is my favourite song ever! So Jams Run Free in my view can never be as good. I love Rather Ripped, and Pink Steam is my favourite song on the record, But I'm sorry 'Siamese Dream' is a far better album, its a classic like 'Dark Side of the Moon' or 'Daydream Nation'.

1979 is my favorite song ever too. Rather Ripped reminds me of Siamese Dream....Even though their is no walls of fuzz, instead it is just the opposite, clean, clean guitars. Both very easy to digest albums with lots of repeated listenablity |

not surprising it won... along with Rats it's the most "Sonic Youth sounding" song on the record. I think it's quite a good pick actually, though I'm not really sure if it's the one I like best..

Pink Steam is the only song on the album reminiscent of the old sonic youth.
