that harvey milk album is very good. i only really like their first two albums ("the pleaser" is okay, i guess) but the new one is definitely their best since "courtesy and good will towards men."

Anyone (in the States at least...) seen that Hyundai commerical where there is this young-ish couple in there 20's (i guess) performing there own rendition of "jingle bells" w/ drums guitar and keyboards... that is the definition of "hipster" gone too far, if you look and act and like these type of people then you are a hipster. its like they came straight out of urban outfitters... this duo i think is the most underrated musicians until that is they release and album chock full of indie-esque holiday ballads.

It's interesting though that you mentioned post-rock and veganism as staples in hip taste. I never thought of them that way. I suppose the hipster tag is applied differently depending on where you are located.

I've said this before, but nearly everyone on here could be called a hipster. It's a total meaningless term. You could pick out anyone here and point 'hipster' attributes towards them.

That' true in a way, even though I don't associate cool with hipster as such, so someone on here who appear knowledgable and opinionated about music hasn't necessarily got cool taste in music by my own standards. And what to make of people who have what I percieve as hip taste in music (Animal Collective, Best Coast, Crystal Stilts, record of the year kind of stuff) but dress normal?
