Despite Chris Cohen being out, I like some of the guitar tones on the new Deerhoof, and it's good overall, but Milk Man and The Runners Four are both better. The songs aren't as cohesive on the new one. This is despite the arrangements being even perhaps more "conventional" really. Love the ostinato riffage though. One blemish is that, for some reason, Saunier sounds a bit strained to me on most of the new one.
Deerhoof came through here last year and are coming again in February. They start off their tour this time in Japan with OOIOO and then head over to L.A. with Hella. http://deerhoof.killrockstars.com/shows.html Yo La Tengo are coming here in Feb. Acid Mothers Temple are coming here in April. Trans Am too. |

atari mentioned trans am. im listening to an advance copy of their new one at the moment. its really good. its totally changed direction halfway thru, its like a derailed train struggling to keep up speed going thru a muddy field, uphil.
jeez, the album is better than what that last statement makes it sound.. god im fucking hungover still. time to turn off pc before the bullshit gets filled with even more type-os and .................................................. ........ |

well i'm not going to buy CDs this year anyway (unless their are special circumstances) due to being on the verge of financial ruin. i'm only allowed to buy only 7"s and tapes for the next 12 months.

I've been doing that myself for the last couple of months. Budgeting with my music buying. Its sort of a downer. But I don't miss the asshole record store workers.
