I think Britney Spears has had an influence on the Pop Culture, even though most of you will disagree. She could be another obseesion or they could finish a Mariah Carey one, but her vocal pitch is high.

I don't know I have a feeling she may have a comeback. She has the same thing that Madonna had, sleazy affairs and so forth.

I agree more CY I'm sure they can come up with some other crazy songs to cover.

what do you think, should i buy the remastered version of the white(y) album? it's cheap but i have the vinyl and old version already. so are the sounds better, hidden bonus tracks, good liner notes?
and why the single version of burnin' up is not included, or is it? |

I do not like Madonna, but I enjoy the Whitey Album very much.
If this hypathetical situation was to manifest into reality, I do not think Linsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie, or either Simpson sister would do. Mariah Carey could be interesting. Her music is lame, though her first album was amazing (in a poppy way), and I wouldn't have said that if I was not open to the idea of being mocked. What about some sort of Carpenters tribute compilation? |

Are you forgetting "If I were a Carpenter" from the mid 90's?
I think that Ciccone Youth was a fun one off thing, sort of shows SY's diversity and ability to branch out (are those the same thing? sorry). If SY came out with another CD covering and/or mocking or whatever a celeb. I think that the media would grab a hold of it and make it in to something that it shouldn't be. When the White(y) album came out SY was more underground and things spread a lot slower. Now with Youtube and filesharing and on and on I think it would spread like wildfire and taint the good name of SY... Mariah Carey has always been bad btw. |

If I Were A Carpenter was not strictly Sonic Youth, as you know. I am speaking of a whole SY album, not other artists. SY is quite under the radar and I doubt the media is going to be able to do any SY exploitation, despite Youtube. Yeah, and Vision of Love is classic, and I am not going to get into it. No, I never wish I was an indie snob. |
