No, I didn't see it live. Maybe saying In Rainbows 'sucked' is a little far, I really liked 'Videotape', I think that's the name of it? But that album bored me as a whole. I like this new song, though. |

i just like to comment/discuss things i like with other people who might like it as well... dont see a problem with one thread per song neither. if there arent any words to be said about it, then the thread will disappear in one day.. just saying that

It wasn't bad, but it didn't really seem to go anywhere.

you will burn for that lie. i found in rainbows to be boring compared to hail to the theif, which was more rich/varied in songs and sounds. |

It's OK, but nothing significant to me. Just feels like a dreamy, come and go song that doesn't stick with me when it's over. Granted, the mix, their sound, the stuff they dial in w/ their instruments is monumental, but the writing is insignificant.
To me, nothing has been brilliant since the Bends.... personally, my following and interest w/ them has left off there. They have, of late, moved towards this very jam band, repetitive, melodic structure and have also incorporated more electronic and digital elements. Because of that, I think they've gotten less interesting since the Bends. Yes, they've gotten more experimental but I guarantee that it takes more focus and commitment to write such structured songs as the Bends opposed to the "lock into one groove" jam band kinda stuff like this. So, on that note, it feels like they're getting bored w/ writting and putting less effort into it. I like the "LEAK" approach. Don't buy that for a minute. Good marketing though. That's a fully mixed and mastered song, not to mention it's terribly realistic to have an unauthorized, copyright protected, unwanted file, photo, mp3 and especially video removed from YouTube or any other site. If it wasn't supposed to be there, it wouldn't be there..... and offered in HQ no-less. WOW, what a treat for us. Q: have you ever clicked on a video, maybe provided via link, and it says "Video removed due to Copyright limitations"? Case in point, if they just casually put up an upcoming track from their new album minus all the "LEAK" hype..... it wouldn't find it's way on most of these forums, or at least not as fast. The leak thing makes it appear more like a "Treat".... mmmmmm enjoy! The early Radiohead, Bends era stuff grabbed you by the balls.... this stuff just floats right in and out of consciousness - boring (and kinda a shame)! |

I agree (with the second sentence ). I also think that "CD2" of In rainbows is much better than In rainbows itself.

We already have like 4 HUGE In Rainbows threads. So, I can see this one getting huge and ridiculous soon. But since I haven't posted about In Rainbows myself in a while, I'd like to mention that I think it's one of the dullest, most boring, blandest, most hard-to-get-through-in-one-sitting, most lifeless records by any band I've heard in my life. Pablo Honey was better. I seriously could only listen to In Rainbows in one sitting once. I've heard the whole thing a few times, but I had to listen to the songs separately. It's just so... one note. There's really no creativity or energy, compared to their other stuff. The whole thing felt rushed. But hey I'm glad people like it!
Okay, have fun everyone!!! |

Oh this song is actually really good. I kinda liked In Rainbows when I listened to it, but then I never wanted to listen to it again, and everytime I listen to a song from it I find it boring now. Except for Videotape, which is really mindblowing.
That said, I really enjoy this new song. |

I never got CD2 of IN RAINBOWS. Whatever y'all. I think HAIL is just kind of meh. I mean, there's a few amazing songs. But...

Hail is probably their best album. Kid A is my favorite but Hail is like a perfect culmination of everything they've ever ever done. "Drunken Punchup at the Wedding" is their worst song, ever, though.

that song is quite interesting. would be better without the annoying Yorke croon, though.

Y'know, Yorke's voice really is awful isn't it? I think that's why Amnesiac/Kid A are so listenable... you don't hear his "traditional" voice for most of those albums.

this is the bad you listen to when you want to think your dreary tired depression is a deep legitimate emotional state.
they are shit and everything they've ever done is shit. either ripping off pixies or warp records. the ironic downer compliment to u2. |

Videotape was killed by the album production entirely. If you heard any of the pre-album live shows, they'd played it with an uptempo middle section which was far more appealing than the crappy album version.

IN RAINBOWS is great. But I agree that "Videotape" suffers from production.
