You should all use a Line 6 Echo Park. Best thing I ever got for noise!

feedback loops, ring mods, octaves, tweaking delay knob for pitch shifting, etc. Sticking stuff under the strings, picking behind the bridge, putting pressure behind the bridge to bend harmonics and open notes, squeezing on the guitar neck so it bends slightly. Taking off my guitar strap and violently shaking the guitar.

I have a cheapo little kiddy keyboard with like 35 effects and when the battaries get low, instead of turning off, it will automatically mix a ton of sounds, beats and instruments together and combine it with this strange organic sounding wall of lo-fi feedback. It's just something cool to fuck around with because you have no control over what it's going to do and it's always different and sounds fucking awesome.

i like using my cellphone over the pickups...i don't know why, but it creates some pops and clicks...
also i like some low rate and high depth flanger or phaser and over that use a distortion...

That noise box is sweet.
The song we made is so original. Its like free jazz meets drone meets harsh noise meets japanoise meets space meets noiserock meets 'pigfuck' meets no wave meets grind meets vacuum cleaner. Knob twiddling is boring as hell. Get physical and fuck shit up. |

Try this, one guitar amp, one of this:
and this: Set the depth and res of the flanger really high, max; and the rate about medium to medium high, the manual low. For the distortion, just make it really distorted and put the volume at low(you can use the guitar amp volume to make it louder)The other settings are equalizer setings, set according to tone preference. Then play your guitar, anyway you want and while it's sustaining feedback, twiddle with the res knob...

Thrasher02, I recorded a quick sample of the technique I use for sludge metal. First, use a reverb with a huge room size (you can choose presets on most computers for this, and they have it on Fruityloops). I use my mixer set to "cathedral" and it gives me a very long reverb sound with tonnes of echo. I apply this to both guitar and mic. Ride the side of your pic up and down the strings while breathing in (making a high pitch sound). Sounds amazing.
Here's the sample Enjoy!

Another one I use often is using center pickup and leaning the guitar against the amp. I then use the volume control to just barely let it feedback. This acquires an "Ono Soul" type of sound. Grab a second guitar or sample the feedback, and record over!
