hmmm, reading that list i realised i've only bought 2 SY related things this year, SY EP and D/AU, my vote goes to the SY EP for the killer bonus tracks. i ought to buy one of those Lee things really. |

I don't want to be king of the board, Kegmama, I enjoy being underneath you far too much.

I think there is only one release missing:
Thurston also took part in Horoscopo: Sanatorio de Moliere by TLASILA. |

I would say Lee's Ambient Loop For Vancouver or The Destroyed Room. So much of that stuff I have yet to hear.

I broke down and bought rather ripped, after all. At least it's the vinyl version of it so the cover art is a bit less appalling than in the cd version. Still, musically it is a bit shite. Definitely a disappointment.
In addition to that, I only bought the double lp reissue of the s/t album, and that indeed is a great one. My choise is obvious. As for most of the stuff sonicl listed, you cant really find it in stores here and you'd have to order it somewhere else. I'm not that interested in sonic youth that I'd hunt down every single sy / sy -related thing that is available. it would be a hassle I can't be bothered to take part in. |

These are mine in no particular order...
sy - helen lundeburg / eyeliner 7" sy - melbourne direct diskaholics - weapons of ass destruction diskaholics - live in japan vol 1 new blockaders/thurston moore/jim o’rourke - the voloptulist I suppose if push comes to shove then Melbourne Direct is my fave... but only by a knob's length Alas I don't have DAU or the ToL metal box yet... but they are top of my must buy list so this will be rectified real soon... I have another to add to sonicl's list... Thurston Moore/Cotton Museum split 12" Insertion on Tasty Soil Records It is indeed pretty tasty but not tasty enough to make my top list.

well it was the ep. especially that inner sleeve. it was funny and pleasurable to read from richard edson that sonic youth were a bunch of squares.

i can't believe they released so many records... i only have helen lundeberg 7", SY reissue and mirror/dash cd. i might buy the destroyed room at some point too.
a bit offtopic in a way, but the best sonic moment for me in 2006 was seeing lee ranaldo live at avanto festival. |
