Warmth aren't boring. Maybe they are if all you want to do is ROCK OUT and not listen to any music that requires intelligent thought though...

Boring, to me, is something like Deerhunter. Repetetive, monotonous, predictable, literally drone -- as in, it's droning. Drone music, however, is so captivating, always changing but always staying the same... just lovely, brilliant, important sounds. Turn it up full blast and it's just awesome. Still, there are lots of boring ass drone bands out there. Warmth, however, is not boring in the least. I know steev personally, but I'm not biased. I'm not into everything he's done (see Knife City, Athenian Mercury for the most part), but Warmth is absolutely brilliant. Dude spends hours crafting these tracks, and there are layers and layers of things happening. Also, some of his work is downright noisey, but it's noise produced in such a brilliant, DIFFERENT way. He is definitely a wonderful producer, and I don't know if I'd even describe his work as "drone". I dunno how you'd describe it really. It goes from the loveliest shit in the world to the creepiest to the dirtiest all in the same song. He's great.

Yeah he's a real talent. Does he still do music? Sucks if he doesn't.

Steev ... let's see .. after I played some shows with him and we did some splits.. he kinda disappeared for a while.. briefly reappeared... I heard he was getting married. He wanted me to come to Michigan to hang out. He talked about doing some kind of minitour but I have gotten a few emails in the past 6 months about people asking his whereabouts. I've wrote to his personal and musical myspace and he doesn't respond, which he never really did much of before though he would occasionally drop one or two messages out of nowhere before at least.
Steev is just Steev. He had like 6 IM names at one point, constantly switching them to avoid people. I used to talk to him for hours. Fuckin days of talking. We collaborated on some really great work. SOLDER TEENAGE DAUGHTER - STD 3" CD and our album "Fragment" (which is 79 minutes of high pitched and low pitched clicking.. way more interesting than it sounds) are two of my favorite things I've ever been involved with. He closed x died (which was just an amazing label... he released The Goslings, Robedoor, Giggle the Ozone, Horse Head, RUINHORSE, and Scissor Shock before anyone knew who those bands were! Haha). and was going to start a "real" record label that pressed records, but that never happen. I saw that he put up a new picture of the warmth myspace recently. Dunno what he's up to really but I miss him. He just comes and goes. |
