my neighbor has one. It's cute! I'm not buying a car until I have to. People constantly run into me. Always from the back when I'm stopped.

Where I live in the UK unleaded fuel costs £1.20 per litre. That's the equivalent of approx $8.50 per gallon.

you're missing the point, the country is set up differently so it depends on cheap fuel just like limeyland depends on the constant flow of tea. apples, oranges. now if you ask me, is the setup of this country fucked up? i'll say most wholeheartedly YES. but millions are literally trapped in such a setup and can't yank their homes from the ground and move into an apartment in an area with high population density overnight. bad strategy, yes, but it was setup when car companies used to run the government. |

The smart car is fucking stupid...and ugly. For all the space you're giving up you ain't getting enough of a mileage benefit. If you want amazing mileage get a Volkswagon Diesel, or a Toyota Yaris - this way you're riding a real car instead of that yuppie status shit car sold by Mercedes here in the USA. oh - and comparitive gas prices around the world: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gas_prices here is the high price and low price in the world. country - per liter - per gallon Sierra Leone $4.87 USD/L $18.43 USD/G Venezuela (Caracas) $0.05 USD/L $0.19 USD/G

Well where I live there is essentiallly no public transportation.
Houston is a joke in that regard. And people have every right to complain about gas prices, if it effects their ability to pay their bills and feed their family, than I'd be surprised if they didn't complain.... and yeah things are only gonna get worse before they get better.

americans complaining about petrol prices makes me laugh to a point. i feel for you guys but believe me, you aint seen nothing yet. petrol prices here ahve risen stupidly even home heating oil has risen 95% in the last 6 months... so its not all about driving yr flash car or anything its about life itself... its gonna get worse... ireland still isnt as band as the uk tho, its getting there tho. also diesel is much dearer here now than petrol, thats changed from last year when the sales of diesel cars rocketed to combat rising petrol prices...
ive said this before on another thread. if you dont drive or dont have much usage of oil/petrol then fair enough but if you depend on your car for day to day living (we have to run 2 cars here due to kidz, jobs, locallity of living) then you can complain. im tired of people complaining about people complaining and then saying you cant do anything about it.. YES YOU CAN you can vote......... governments should eliviate the ridiculous tax on fuel for the moment... it may stop a disaster that is imminent..... as for the smart car.. i wouldnt be able to live with myself driving a car that you have to pull backwards on the carpet to make it go........ also if you get caught in someone elses accident... you are fucked! |
