And only another little less than 2 months until Toronto. Woo. I wish it was sooner.

The show tonight was really good. More old songs would have been nice, but the new songs work really well live.
Here are some pictures I took, including one of the setlist. I'm definitely not a photographer by any means, so don't expect anything high quality. http://www.flickr.com/photos/5873485...7594165358936/ |

The show was very good, but I would have liked more balance between old and new. They filmed it.

So it seems Lee plays the acoustic part of Or. I hadn't noticed they played this song with the use of an acoustic guitar in Paris last April.
photo's look awesome. A whole set of RR? Great, so most of the time Mark Ibold does the bass parts of RR as well? Leaving Kim without an instrument, or am I mistaking? Was Chris Habib taping? |

Yeah, Lee played the acoustic part of "Or." About half of the song included him knocking on the body of the guitar with his knuckles as added percussion.
I think there were 3 songs where Mark played the bass part while Kim was just left singing / dancing. A couple songs had two basses though. I can't remember which ones. |

Thanks for posting Vertex... I'm surprised that they played the whole of RR in order, I don't think that they've done that before... I mean play an entire album from beginning to end.

Thanks very much for the setlist. I'm betting this won't be the kind of setlist you'll see on most shows this tour, they did it today I bet because Rather Ripped came out today and they were playing at CBGB's. I'd expect the other dates to be a bit more mixed up.

Meeting them all beforehand and getting some pix and autographs made up for the fact that it was an abbreviated set. I didn't think it was billed as a record release party (was it?), but it was still incredible. The new songs just keep getting better and better. Thurston rocked the shit out of Pink Stream, while Jams Run Free and Turquoise Boy were simply sublime. Love the double bass action. Long live Mark Ibold!!! Lots of shouting for Pavement songs, which I found amusing. "BOX ELDER" "IN THE MOUTH A DESERT". Unforgettable day and night.
Had a blast hangin out with you, hooligan. And no, I didn't end up staying at her place. Oh well, you can't have everything. "What would we be without wishful thinking". |
