There was a business for that for a while, it seemed. Music, too. I even vaguely remember Visa doing a commercial about it. |

I remember going to CBGBs awhile back, years ago, I was tripping on acid with some friends while walking around New York. It was totally awesome and surreal. The bathroom at CBGB's is a tourist sight in itself, it was covered with all this cool artwork and graffiti. I remember my car almost breaking down on the way back home, we barely made it back alive.

If somebody were to write a NYC rock scene guidebook, Thurston would be the guy to do it. There used to be a walking tour of the village/ LES that hits lot of those NYC rock music spots, I dont know if that is still happening though. Also, Great Jones Cafe? Mark Ibold is a bartender there, go say hello...

No, you're quite right - you'e not having a creamsicle moment. I remember reading about a rock star tourist guide... various rock musicians writing about their home city. Maybe Steve's pulling your leg? |

Moshe, I'm sorry to tell you this, but your kids keep emailing me, asking me to get you to stop playing that "old man music" and play some hip-hop instead. They think you're uncool |

That street is also where the velvet underground lived for a while. John Cale was the main tennant, and they practised/sometimes lived in it. I've read a story about some cops pestering them because of their antics. One of them was about a complaint received which involved excreta being thrown out of the window. |
