Why get so philosophical about it? It's rock and roll. People that relate to it often relate to drugs as well and sometimes this means death. I don't think rock music has much hope anymore at being challenging or innovative. It's old, but old doesn't mean it can't still be an outlet to those that identify with it. More than anything, it's supposed to be fun. There are other places to look when it comes to music aimed at challenging an audience or attempting to be innovative. Unfortunately, the second part of that last sentence often means boring. I wasn't a big fan of Jay's music, but I can appreciate it for what it was. If he happened to die of a drug overdose, intentional or not, this likely means there was a complex inner demeanor that I'm certain his fans will begin to dissect and question in the same way many did Cobain or Ian Curtis. The music will likely be looked at from different angles Jay may or may not have intended. I think the flu got him. He had been complaining about being sick. Hope I'm not coming off as bitchy. If so, im sorry. The internet has the effect sometimes. |

What a waste.
He had a peculiar behavior (sacked his pals/band, pissed on stage during the following tour). Refering to punching a guy who had climbed onto the stage to hug him, party with him or whatever, he said that he disliked that kind of attitude. He said he wanted the audience to understand that he no longer was a brainless punk rocker. I liked his songs a lot, their weird lyrics and his vocal delivery. I thought, young as he was, and talented too (to my ears), that he'd get better an better. I'm older and alive, and I like young people to surprise me. This feels like being cheated, I'll have to go on with older rockers. |

Evidently this is being investigated as a possible homicide.

INSANE! I used to listen to lots of synthpunk (for lack of a better word) type stuff.. phantom limbs, servotron, causey way, thunderbirds are now, experimental dental school, brainiac, six finger satellite, mocket, screamers, polysics, spoozys, metronome, enon, the vss, etc......
and LOST SOUNDS! I totally had forgotten about this band until earlier and looked up info on them and read that Jay played guitar and did synth and vocals for this band. What the hell? Never knew that. Great band! |
