Oh, yeah, I get ya. I think it's cause I'm coming to it from a more pop perspective. I write them like songs instead of just 'jamming out'.

I'll have to pick this up when I get paid next. I'm balling right now but I don't have any money on my card unfortunately.

The sample sounds really great!
Maybe I should get myself a copy. How many releases do you have out? |

I released a few records online yeah but they aren't too great.
This one still holds up though: http://weedtemple.blogspot.com/2010/...prescient.html Feel free to download the Robe. split as well since it's sold out: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ACUDBB2X Man, if I had the money I'd honestly reissue the split in a vinyl edition with new artwork and everything. I think it deserves it. |

Awsome, thanx for the links!
That would be awsome. Let me know if you'll make any vinylissues. Ambient music on vinyl (or tapes) - there's seriously nothing better! |

http://agniworld.wordpress.com/2011/...stral-travels/
Derek McArthur, also known as the one, who runs the ambient project UUUUUU, and his album “The Astral Travels” is now proudly reviewed on Agniworld. The first thing, that struck me most, is the project’s name. I am ignorant about the author’s intention, but I’ll try to propose, that “UUUUUU” in onomatopoeic manner could express the very essence of drone ambient – the continuous generation of almost monotonous sounds (monotonous – of course, for an untrained person!). The next striking thing was the great abyss of picturesqueness, that I encountered while listening. The tracks are a result of processing guitar sounds, chords, sometimes you can also hear flute warbles. The entire work is a profound, meaningful and sincere set of drone ambient music. So, join “The Astral Travels” of Derek McArthur’s UUUUUU. Official release page Found at Deleted Scenes Forgotten Dreams Blog |

i love Of The Xerophytic Blooming so much.
I hate to say it (since I play piano on it) but A Diadem of Blood is so perfect. The piano ends it so beautifully. ROTHKO is my favorite song though. That constant delay. It reminds me of tripping on DXM. In fact, it's probably the most DXM-y song ever created. Holy shit. PERFECT. DEAD ERA is beautiful. Clanging longing chords. WRISTS is shocking as fuck, with guitar/electronic manipulations panning all around the stereo plane and turning into something insane. Certain parts of this is really fucking lovely, too, like one of the non-disco GOBLIN songs. Guitars clash and collide quietly. KKING LEAR is fragmented, dark, abstract, with slight rays of hope. A call to arms and the only logical conclusion. YET IT'S TRACK 1! This track is markedly different from the rest of the album though seems to encapsulate all the other UUUUU albums -- especially SU ASIDE -- while presenting something new... perfect album. No really, this album BLOWS ME AWAY. Ddddddderek, this is your best album BY FAR. FUCK! I hope this post was okay. I'm not going to send the album out to anyone, but I didn't know if you wanted me to even talk about it yet, I can edit this and delete this if you want me to. Just.. wow man. Peace. -ac |

I've never seen this thread before but it looks very cool, and the guy who released it lives in the city next to mine so I ordered a copy, looking forward to hearing it!! I can't listen to the samples because I just moved and have no Internet and I'm posting from my wife's iPhone while she is sleeping but it sounds like something that's right up my alley.

Thanks Adam, you rule. Yes, there is a new UUUUUU album called 'Of the Xerophytic Blooming' and it will be out eventually. The only people that have heard it so far have been Adam and my girlfriend since they're my creative consultants heheh.
And thanks Watcher, hope you enjoy! There's only about 2 or 3 copies of The Astral Travels left now, so if anyone wants it last minute then do it soon. Thanks! |

Derek really cool stuff - I like it a lot. Cool album with excellent sounds. What kind of setup do you use? All guitar with cool effects pedals?
Would definitely buy another album from you, keep thread updated....... |

On that same line, and to reiterate what I said last night while drinking scotch, I really really like this album - I've spun it twice so far since last night and I really think the sound is fantastic - I love solo guitar stuff like this, where it's more ambient the loopy, if you know what I mean. Great work!
