how can you like the new c93? it's go awful, i really can't get past the fifth track; i hate the whole acoustic guitar with narration thing, seemed very pretentious to me.
one i've been listening fucking non stop is bardo pond - ticket crystals, but i think it's gonna get a little rest since my package from archive arrived today. |

Everyneurotic. You deserve a medal for living in Mexico City. Incredible place, but you could not PAY me to live there.
I'd like to go back sometime, with more time to do/see things though. Totally overwhelmed. |

I've been listening a lot to Frank Black and the Catholics - Black Letter Days. Black is just amazing, pouring out great song after great song.

Actually, and I really hate to say this on a Sonic Youth board, I can't actually stop listening to Confusion is Sex.
There, I said it, I'm a fucking Sonic Youth fan. You happy, you Godless Schmucks? [And also Carpenters best of]

Not inhospitable, just not a place I'd like to call home. I mean, obviously, the size. I think the city I live in is probably about the size of downtown DF (aha, I picked that up) alone. I can imagine living there your whole life and still not knowning another part of the city is even there. Crazy size, but thats what I expected, and more.
In general people are pretty nice. I can't imagine people in NYC or LA being as friendly as your fellow citizens. Cheap beer!!! Though getting drunk, and then walking out on the steets was a rush I wasn't expecting. Seeing things that are familiar to home, but different enough to make you realize you're far from home. Also, stood on hollow ground, or at least outside hollow ground. THE Azteca Stadium. Neat. Great time indeed. |

most people i know are always getting lost when they go out, saying "i don't know how to get around in this part of town"; i get by a little better because i've always had friends and family living all over the place but i certainly don't know every part of town! yeah, people are nice, that's a plus, although there's assholes everywhere, but in general people are nice and helpful. booze is dirt cheap, you can get your ass loaded enough to have 5 alcohol poisonings for less than $20 if you know where to go. i love it here because beer is cheap, good and aplenty. believe it or not, i've never been to the azteca stadium, or any football stadiums for that matter; i'd love to, though. |

No kidding, almost too cheap.
We drank at bar a few blocks from our hotel, we drank with genuine Mexico City folk, tourists from Slovenia and Australia, and a extremely drunk senorita who was 'lost'. Way too many shots to international friendship. |

where were you staying? but it's not cheap and awful drinking, it's good and cheap drinking; i've drunk black label scotch for the equivalent of $5 a glass. some places are complete rip offs, like clubs and dance places. |

The Santa Fe. It has a HUGE mall in it. But the mall was lame. The bars/clubs a few blocks down were great though.
Just walking around this area was neat. Monday morning was a test of the nerves though. |

Hating "acoustic guitar and narration" basically means you will hate at least half of Current 93's music (I also call it "vocal style," as opposed to "narration," but I recognize that even though David is one of my favorite vocalists ever, he can't carry a tune in a bucket). As for it being pretentious, perhaps it is. I enjoy it a lot regardless. But to the one making this criticism, I will remind you of one fact: YOU LIKE BLACK METAL. |
