By all reports the band played well tonight, Tony is a champ. I have hope for some more dates in the future. Tempted to go to Chicago for their one US date, but there's no way. If this shows up on dime I want a repost, some deep cuts on the set list.

some of the riffs hold up but Ozzy just cannot sing anymore. I find the production too clean as well

I watched a documentary about them the other day and Tony Iommi was saying how terrible he thinks the early Sabbath records sound compared to things nowadays with protools etc. |

I don't have a problem with hi-fi production, but to me this record just sounds like plastic

Tony is crazy. 1970-1978 produced some of the finest albums of all time. The post-1990s Sabbath albums sound like shit, too digital. Tony used to have a fabulous ear for production, even Technikal Ecstasy is a fantastic album production wise, but I think Sabbath Bloody Sabbath is the epitome of a top-shelf 1970s album. When I heard Tony say in 2005 that, "Ronny James Dio is the best vocalist of ALL time," I knew that he had finally lost his mind. Me, I be digging that Ask Dr Ozzie in Guitar Magazine. Shit is funny. Ozzy is the shit, and he always will be.

Damaged Soul is the standout track from 13 to me just from listening to the itunes stream; supposedly improvised in the studio. Zeitgeist isn't bad either, as a sequel to Planet Caravan.

I am a friend of 60/70-sound world. The eighties were terrible mostly, it has come a little bit better direction nowdays, but mostly all that is made protools doesnīt sound as great as the 60/70-albums to me. I have analog stereos and as long as it possible, I will never buy digital.
I have only heard God is dead? and to me it also sounds a little bit too clean comparing those classic Sabbath albums, but I really like bass-sounds in it! |

Got the new one wednesday, listened it yesterday...well, it of course not rises to level of the classic albums but I really love it just because itīs so great to hear Ozzies voice & Iommis riffs & sounds together again! I donīt have nothing against Geezer`s sounds in the seventies, but bass sounds in this album are much more the favour of mine! The whole production doesnīt sound so clean, maybe itīs because I listened it from the vinyl. My favourites at the moment are: End of the beginning, Zeitgeist (yes, this really could have been Planet Caravan part 2, I think this is the greatest song in this album), Damaged Soul & Dear Father. There are lots of old elements in this album, but in the same time this sounds BS 2013. I think Rubin has been just the right producer. I think BS managed their "comeback album" much better than Stooges has done in their both after seventies albums.
I really like the cover, quite simple but very effective (I really like also the dark trees in the backside) & I am really glad they put original spiral vertigo logos to the labels! BTW It was really big suprise that Bill Ward isnīt on the album, but after listening I donīt miss him, because Brad Wilk does as great job! BTW2 there are storm sounds and bell in the end like there are in the beginning of their first album. Their last studio album? |

Album release webcast, with a making-of-doc, full song recorded for the CSI tease, terrible music video, and Q&A. At the end they are asked if they might make another record, and they seem agreeable.
